NEWS Joan Taufua charged with manslaughter

QPS media release.

Mrs Haas is 46…
Yeah, actually I just read this on my fb feed. It also states that she doesn't have life threatening injuries. This is a fucking horrific story if it's panning out the way I think it's going to.

Yep, courier mail jumped the gun on that one I think…

It certainly reads a certain way, that release but certainly don't want to be casting aspersions or anything that could get this site in trouble.

No, of course not and I hope I'm totally wrong with my suspicions. We'll just have to wait for an official media release possibly tomorrow. Most on social media have already made their assumptions.

Lets just hope at least one person comes out of this alive. Tragic.

Jesus fucking Christ, what is happening.

If Haas mother was driving like a lunatic or was trying to flee police, this could get ugly in a hurry.

The mother of Brisbane Broncos star Payne Haas is fighting for life and three people are dead after a horrific car crash on the Gold Coast.

Uiatu “Joan” Taufua, 46, was pulled from the wreckage of a van by a Good Samaritan who helped her before paramedics arrived at the scene of the crash on Bonogin Road in the Gold Coast hinterland.

Three people in the other vehicle were tragically pronounced dead at the scene while Ms Taufua, the sole occupant of a van which burst into flames after the crash, was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital with critical injuries.

This family is cursed. RIP to the three victims. Good god I hope she is not at fault, but her reputation is not great.

Sounds like she fled from police before the crash.

Three people have died and a woman has sustained injuries following a two vehicle traffic crash in Bonogin this afternoon, Friday December 30.

Initial information indicates police were conducting patrols along Bonogin Road near Calanthe Lane just prior to 5pm when they observed a black 2017 Mercedes GLS 63 wagon allegedly being driven dangerously.

Police activated their vehicle’s warning lights and attempted to intercept the vehicle, however it allegedly fled the scene.

At no time was any pursuit undertaken.

Shortly after, police were flagged down by a passing motorist who alerted them to a collision involving the vehicle and a silver 2018 Mercedes A200 hatch around a kilometre from the attempted intercept.

Police and emergency services immediately responded, with preliminary information indicating the collision forced the silver Mercedes from the roadway into a power pole which was subsequently downed.

A fire then broke out in the black Mercedes and was contained to it. The sole occupant from this vehicle, a 46-year-old Bonogin woman was entrapped and freed by police. She was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition with an arm injury.

The three occupants of the silver Mercedes, two women and a man, were entrapped and police managed to free two of them, rendering first aid ahead of the emergency response.

Despite the best efforts of police, paramedics and the passing motorists who provided initial assistance, the trio died at the scene.

The Forensic Crash Unit will investigate the circumstances of the collision and appeal for witnesses, especially those with dashcam vision or CCTV of the crash, or the moments leading up to it to come forward.

The State Coroner has been advised. The Ethical Standards Command is investigating the incident.

If that is the truth of it (and I don't mean to sound callous here), then it might be time to cut Payne loose. We really don't need that family's toxicity around the club, and if his mother is essentially responsible for the deaths of three people, Haas is going to be mentally broken at least for the foreseeable future.

Those poor families of the dead.

I'd argue against that - especially taking into consideration the point I've bolded.

We have a duty of care to help Payne out here - regardless of the events of last year with the release request and all that.

He's still a young bloke, with not much life experience at all. This is going to be a massive struggle for him, if what the police statement says is true. It also seems like he is the sole provider for his large family, so he's already under a certain pressure away from the footy field.

Give him time off or whatever, this is the kind of thing that is bigger than your footy career. I'd hate to see him go off the rails because we fucked him off when he needed a guiding hand.

This is a tragic event. Three innocent lives lost. May they rest in peace.

Well said mate, the club should give him every support possible, these kind of events make or break someone, throwing him to the trash heap is not what good people do. His mother though, God damn, she is absolute bottom of the barrel trash who should never be allowed in society again if that reads like I think it reads. Drink drivers are scum, and should be charged as murderers if they cause any death. POS.

Paynes mum is quite possibly the biggest train wreck on earth, she acts like a teenager on Meth.

Wonder how they will blame this on police, this will definitely get jail time hopefully for life but I doubt it.

IMO: Haas will blame the police. As you said the entire family are toxic.

What a horrendous and tragic situation. Must have been some velocity to fell a power poll, impact and crushed. Horrible.

Why would she run from the police in the first place?!

Awful take on the situation mate. Imagine getting the sack because a family member broke the law. It's not only illegal, but shows a complete lack of empathy, which is fairly off in my eyes.
