Horrific scene. So so bad. To take out a pole like that needed some serious velocity.
Last time I heard of her in the news she was in jail, I didn't know she'd been released. What was she doing on the outside I suppose the next question is.
Well said mate, the club should give him every support possible, these kind of events make or break someone, throwing him to the trash heap is not what good people do. His mother though, God damn, she is absolute bottom of the barrel trash who should never be allowed in society again if that reads like I think it reads. Drink drivers are scum, and should be charged as murderers if they cause any death. POS.
She got paroled in October.Last time I heard of her in the news she was in jail, I didn't know she'd been released.
We wont turn our back on him and we shouldn't. If he needs help, it will be there for him.
I dont think its fair to comment really about the accident until we get all the details.
Cut him loose, but provide assistance if he needs it.
Support him as a human, not a footballer.
I'm done with Haas and his association with the Broncos.
I was done with him when he asked for a release mid way through our comeback.
His family are nothing but trouble and there is no way that has not rubbed off on Payne over the years. It's sad, but it is what it is. RIP to the innocent people that lost their lives.
I'm not saying cut him loose because of this incident, I'm saying cut him loose because of his long list of repeated indiscretions that seem to happen like clockwork in every off-season as well as his recent disruptions through the season just gone. You can't. Unless he was in the car or somehow party to the situation which certainly doesn't seem to be even close to the case here, you can't sack him for what his mum has done. This is an extremely dangerous precedent to set and most definitely illegal.
If he comes out and condones the alleged action, then that is a different story on grounds of disrepute, etc but unless he does that, the club NEEDS to stand by him and provide him all the support they can as not only is this a duty of care, it is morally the right thing to do.

Yeah it's not fair and as Sproj said it's probably illegal anyway. That said I couldn't blame sponsors for not wanting to be involved. If we have had enough of his and his families antics all we can do really is just let him run down his contract. I dont think it would be fair to just get rid of him based on what a family member may have done.
Why would we need to sack him, he wants to leave?Just wait til he tweets something inappropriate blaming the dead or something. Then sack him.
Agree, but if Haas were to blame police for this incident thats an instant ejection, we have a duty of care to the guy but we can't have someone defending these actions.Awful take on the situation mate. Imagine getting the sack because a family member broke the law. It's not only illegal, but shows a complete lack of empathy, which is fairly off in my eyes.
I get what you are saying, but there is plenty of young blokes who have chaotic lives, or who have come from rough backgrounds and are making a solid go of improving their lives without getting into trouble every year, and they do it without million dollar contracts and a football club to support them. Why would we need to sack him, he wants to leave?
Personally I think it’s mildly entertaining to post on BHQ to play lounge chair coach and recruiter, and debate and speculate about players performances and talents but a topic like this is so far beyond the insignificance of sport that I think it’s not even appropriate to be discussing.
A massive tragedy for all involved and that’s probably all that needs to be said on the matter.
As far as Payne is concerned, I hope he has some good people around him. He has had such a chaotic life for someone so young. Maybe moving to Sydney away from his current social circle is best for this young man’s life and I know Sonny Bill cops a lot of hate from sporting fans but I know quite a fe people that either know him personally or have interacted with him and he would be a great influence on Payne just not the kind of influence that tribal sport fans may appreciate.
