Facebook tends to draw casuals who happen to catch the odd game that they watch in the background and read Courier Mail articles to get their fill.

Message boards tend to attract more 'hardcore' supporters who happen to be far more critical and colour each others perspectives on players. So even if you liked a certain player, others will point out facts that erode your confidence in them.

If I was Josh, I'd much rather go to the Bulldogs than Canberra since they play a style of footy that would suit him more. As a Raiders fan, I wouldn't mind either way as I don't think Hoffman is a good long term option but they need a fullback because Wighton isn't one either.

This is the best outcome for both parties. Hoffman isn't a fullback. He obviously sees himself as one, but he just doesn't have the playmaking to be a modern day fullback.

I appreciate all he has given the club and wish him well. I do think it is a shame that he isn't able to realise with us that his best position is wing, because I honestly feel like he could be top 3 in the game.

This is a good move by the Broncos to handle it this way imho

Exactly. When Hoffman lost the fullback gig and all the talk was of him going to the dogs last yeah, the same group of 'fans' put all the negative shit up. Most of it read like this "my boy josh needs to be fullback dis is cray cray. He so fine the stupid Broncos don't know how sexy he is"... Yes, because sexiness is a direct correlation to how good a fullback someone is

Seriously Hoffman for Boyd is an awesome outcome IMO. Boyd is a good defensive fullback who can ball play. Far better then Hoffman. It's a shame that Hoffman wasn't prepared to play on the wing. Would have been one of the best wingers in the comp.

Like Pete said, to casuals this would look like a wtf decision but it's in the best interests of the club, he doesn't want to be here and he isn't the fullback we need not to mention it frees up some cap space and a payout on the last year of his contract should we release him.
