Josh Hoffman

Re: Josh Hoffman, to the principles office!

alex glenn: "Obviously there are players that are very nervous because he is coming in and he might be taking your position, like Hoffy was, but it's very exciting when you get a player of that stature who can perform on the field as strong as he can.

"You always want to play with players like that, I got the opportunity to play with Sonny (Bill Williams) and it was the same thing playing with him, you learn new stuff from professionals like them and take it on board."
Glenn said Hoffman had put his desire to leave the club behind him and had reported for training happy and determined to produce a big season.

"To see him back in training and with a big smile . . . I think that break freshened him up and he got on with his business," he said.

"There is no doubt that he will be ready for a big season this year."

"They have made it clear they are interested if he wasn’t at the Broncos and that’s it."

Are they even allowed to do that?

Re: Josh Hoffman, to the principles office!

He's gone, White will have to concede this one if the coach is alright with it.

Re: Josh Hoffman, to the principles office!

Concede why? He has 2 years contract to go, and as far as I know, throwing a tantrum because you've been pushed from the position you want to play at, when you haven't been able to fulfill it satisfactorily, is not a reason to request a release.

He can whinge and accuse all he wants, but this is because he is butt hurt about the truths Hodges spoke, being pulled up by Griffin for his behaviour at the world cup, and absolutely delusional about how good a fullback he is.

He can STFU, play winger in the NRL for the Broncos, and wait 2 years to move to the Dogs, hoping they don't find someone better than him before then. Beale went to the Dragons to play Fullback too, and that worked out well... hello Dugan!

I'm pretty sure there is no rule against expressing your interest in a player, but you're not allowed to enter negotiations with a player under contract without the clubs permission. At least, I think that's the rule.

Re: Josh Hoffman, to the principles office!

That was the so called anti-tampering rule, but that is no longer valid.

The NRL will however not register a new contract for a player, until November of the year where his current contract ends, unless it is an extension of the current contract, or there is explicit agreement from the club where said player is contracted to.

Re: Josh Hoffman, to the principles office!

If he wants to go, I hope we just release him... With the following conditions.

1. We get the transfer fee we paid for Barba back (at a minimum)
2. He can't earn more money than his Broncos contract until his Broncos contract would have ended. Similar to the Barba release.

But lets wait until round 2 before the release.

I don't want us to be petty and just drop him to QLD cup or just hold onto him out of spite. I only want players playing for us who want to be here and are committed to our jersey.

We are the most professional rugby league club in the world... Lets not forget that, and act appropriately.

Re: Josh Hoffman, to the principles office!

Let's look at the bigger picture here, since when did he become a utility?

Re: Josh Hoffman, to the principles office!

I am so over this bullshit, and I don't respect the Dogs at all for giving Hoffman a platform to get what he wants as a result of a tantrum.

Re: Josh Hoffman, to the principles office!

Any direct quotes from Hoffman himself stating he wants out ?

Or is it just more media drivel ??

He seemed to be having a lot of fun over the weekend playing for us.

1. Seemless release from the bulldogs? They denied everything until he embarassed them on tv.

2. A new challenge? A new challenge? You have even mastered this challenge. Your not the fullback you think you are josh.

3. ****. Him. Off. Now. Get money or a player or whatever you want and get rid of him. We have far too many players in the squad that actually want to play for the broncos so get this guy out of our great jersey

Re: Josh Hoffman, to the principles office!

He probably got upset by being labelled a "utility".

He's not a utility, he's useless. I never really got the hype for Hoffman. So he has a bit of speed and can make the most of a loose ball and some open space. Any player that considers themselves merely "decent" can do that. Having the ability to spot opportunities then make the most of them is what makes a GREAT player and I've yet to see that from Hoffman.

Re: Josh Hoffman, to the principles office!

Just to throw another factor into the melting pot, Kearney has been retained as the Kiwi coach.

Re: Josh Hoffman, to the principles office!

Get the Barba transfer money back from the Bulldogs and let him go.

Yes he has 2 years left on his contract but when he signed that both player and club probably had expectations that it was going to be for the fullback position. We have sourced other alternatives for the fullback role and if Josh wants to chase his dream/goal of being a NRL fullback then good luck to him.

Would i want a happy Josh Hoffman playing wing? Yes

Do i want 2 more years of reading constant rumours of him being unhappy and being linked to club xyz? No thanks.

This...

But I would also add the condition thatbhe must not earn more than he would have, if served the remainder of his contract with us
