Josh McGuire signs with Cowboys - Immediate Switch

Honestly wouldn't be that upset if it happened. McGuire, while a valuable member of our squad and pack, isn't indispensible.

Pretty big loss imo. But hard decisions need to be made to retain the next generation of forwards.

The lurker reporting that Seibold doesn't have the time for Lodge and therefore he will leave Brisbane..
It is the lurker, so really they could actually be best mates..but I hadn't even given a thought to the time they spent in Melbourne together.
Hoping it is BS, Lodge really does look settled with us now, and hopefully he can be a real leader of this pack heading into the future..

NRL limiting back-ended deals
The North Queensland Cowboys are on the verge of signing Kangaroos forward Josh McGuire for the 2019 season on a $3.2 million contract.
The Cowboys have been in secret talks with the Brisbane Broncos enforcer for two weeks about an immediate move to Townsville.

There is concern in North Queensland about the future of former Test and Maroons front-rower Matt Scott who recently underwent surgery on a neck injury.
The Broncos are reluctant to release the 28-year-old McGuire but could use the space it would create in the salary cap to keep their best young forwards long term.
The likes of Tevita Pangai Junior, David Fifita, Payne Haas and Joe Ofahengaue all showed immense promise throughout the 2018 season.

The Maroons and Kangaroos forward has two years to run at the Broncos but is being offered four to five years to play out his career in Townsville.
The Daily Telegraph understands the Broncos have informed new coach Anthony Seibold about the situation.
With the addition of Val Holmes in 2020, the Cowboys will have a roster to seriously challenge for another premiership.

That would suggest Scott’s days are numbered.

If we lose Moose I will flip my shit. He is the fucking broncos. All these kids need to get the **** in line and prove themselves before they get the pay cheque or they can **** off to the knights and titans and have shit careers

I have mixed feelings about this, I don't really want to lose Moose because I think he's still our most reliable forward, but on the flip side, it would be pretty huge in terms of opening up minutes, rotation spots & cap space for our young brigade.

8. Lodge
9. McCullough
10. Ofahengaue
11. Su'A
12. Gillett
13. Pangai Jr

14. Glenn
15. Fifita
16. Haas
17. Carrigan / Fai / Tagatese

Well looks like we can put the McGuire talk to bed. He's off to the cows! Problem solved, debate over

Would this make Ofa our most experienced middle forward? That's a little concerning.

I'm not as upset as I thought I would be.
Yeah, sad to see him go but, meh, at least we can secure the young bucks with his cash. Somebody was always going to go at some stage.

Wow, BBQ is really sleeping on this one... Expected this place to be flaming by now
