Kennedy, Release at season end? Yes or No?

I just don't understand what could be the problem with Hannant. I mean he doesn't embarrass the club, works hard most of the time,is experienced,a family man and never likely to be found dead drunk in a gutter somewhere. He has the skills,a proven record, lives locally so what the ****. The only thing I could guess at is that we definitely have one or two players locked up in his position for next year......and the Broncos are keeping it quiet .

Good point, Huge.

I've often wondered that myself.

Maybe it's disappointment? The Broncos bought Hannant home under the assumption that he was one of the top props in the game and for one reason or another he hasn't really been able to break out of the pack.

Maybe he's just too similar to McGuire? Both very mobile front rowers who bring some skills to the table but can get out-muscled if you're not careful.

Or perhaps it's your idea that we've signed a new middle forward and he's signed on elsewhere to play with let's say Newcastle.

For me, I wouldn't let Hannant go anywhere. I've always rated him although that doesn't mean I rated him as highly as Webcke or Lazarus. He's just in the next bracket and we need him unless we've got someone at least as good. I don't always want to know about the machinations behind the scenes but this time I do. As for Kennedy, he can play well but maybe he needs someone to play for, someone he just never wants to let down, the way WB used to inspire his boys. I still hold out hope that Kennedy will find his motivation .

I am another that would hold Hannant but maybe there are salary cap problems as reported. We may have to shed a player in a higher wage bracket

I would try and restructure his contract to playing incentives. Get running 150mtrs and 30 tackles a game and ill pay you 10k a game over 26 rounds witch is 260k a year. Get 180mtrs and 40 Tackles and ill pay you 15k a game witch is 390k a year. I think he is one off those guys money is a bigger factor then were he lives etc.. We cant motivate him atm so maybe money would. He seems motivated enough to go to gym and go fishing all the time. Salary cap could be a problem with this sort of a deal. Think it worth looking at.

I like the idea but I don't know how feasible it is. By all reports, Kennedy is on a pretty good wicket but it hasn't made a difference. Griffin has been reluctanct to drop players for form reasons during his tenure so what's happened to Kennedy is a bit of a surprise. I suspect there's more to it. One day, I hope the full story comes out.

our salary cap issues are related to particular payments to particular players having questionable legallity. not our overall cap exceeding 6.5 mil or whatever it is nowadays.

I think incentives are typically only linked to how many first grade games you play nowadays. The above stipulations are ludicrous, and no player would agree to them unless they had no other options. The amount of tackles a prop makes is more dependent on factors like minutes played, possession flow and the style of the opposition's attack than it is on effort. The same can be said of metres gained, though admittedly to a diminished degree. Not to mention that incentivising in game stats is a one way ticket to non-productive flop tackles, ballhoggery and a player who is making decisions that aren't based on what's the best play for the team. Kennedy's market value goes down every game he plays poorly in. Unless he's planning on retiring after his current contract that should be all the motivation he needs.

Kennedy started and played 15 minutes in the fist half, was better in the second half scored a good try on the right hand side, supporting the runner took the pass and pushed past/off three players to score and get the ball down.

Some nice offloads in a near comeback today.

Thanks for the update champ. Sounds promising, would really like him back in first grade so hopefully he can put together some more strong performances to force a return to first grade.

Anyone know where I can get ISC highlight videos? Can't seem to find them.

Up now @broncospwn .
Bucking Beads hope you're cool with me moving the discussion here. It's difficult to really compare Kennedy and Barba since forwards are far more interchangeable than spine players but he has been a little hard done by this season.

I was fine with him being dropped. He had his opportunities and he was putting in some very soft and stupid efforts. I think he needed to go back down a grade, work on his fundamentals and come back. Unfortunately for both him and us, he picked up an injury which has delayed his comeback.

From 1910's report, it sounds like he probably needs another week of QCup but I'd take him over a Lowrie at their best, easily.

I don't have an issue with Kennedy being dropped at the time but where is the consistency? We have players performing poorly for large periods of the season but they seem to be getting picked week in week out regardless of form.
