Kennedy, Release at season end? Yes or No?

Perhaps he needs to be given a few games in the starting 13. Being used as an impact sub much like Sammy was in his earlier years isn't really his game imo.

He needs to be in the action from the beginning to outmuscle the opposition and stamp our authority over the game.

Um he has been in the starting 13 for the last 2 weeks or something.

Not sure why everyone was so thrilled about signing him. I don't find him to be anything special and the Roosters haven't missed him in the slightest.

Not sure why everyone is so keen to get rid of him (and to a lesser extent Hannant)?

Who have we got to replace them? Jarred Wallace has gone okay in a few small bursts lately (though there has been some terribly soft defensive lapses from him) but otherwise? If our replacements are so great, why can't they get a gig in the A grade side on a regular basis?

We are already a top class prop short as seen by the fact we have to play Parker at prop. Regardless of 'how he plays' if we'd signed someone like Tim Grant, Aaron Woods or someone for this season, Parker would be playing lock, end of story. If we sign a top front rower, then we can think about letting our current props go.

Agree fully with with the suggestion of bringing a specialist prop coach in to see what we can make of the talent we have, but letting them go without replacement is batshit crazy.

I don't think Dodds has been any worse than Kennedy is now. We should be looking at promoting one of the rookies as well, like Molo of Ofahengaue if they are ready.

Kennedy isnt going anywhere, not by his choice anyway. His manager stitched up to good of a deal so it would be hard to find any other club picking him up. Mcguire is on significantly less cash than him which is bewildering considering the difference in heart, commitment and ability.

Very true. We have become Souths. Paying overs for players because of their reputation and 'potential'.

Pretty soon, we'll be like the Cowboys used to be. Paying overs for players passed their best who are looking to top up their super.

No point going to England when you can come up to Red Hill...

He's 25 and it's 8 rounds in. With all this doom and gloom some of you would need to be on suicide watch if we started this season really poorly

Im not sure if it that bad, lol. But I can see your way of thinking.

Lol, I suppose I did lay it on a bit thick but I think my point is a valid one. Look at Souths, they spent 30 years convinced that they were only "a win away" from another golden era. They pretty much had to completely rebuild the club from the ground up, on and off the field, in order to be a force again.

Obviously, I don't think we're going that bad but I don't want the "one win away" mentality to infect the Broncos culture.

Back on topic, what have you made of Kennedy's performances so far? Has he done enough to keep his spot with Hala waiting in the wings etc.

Hala certainly has done nothing to earn a spot in the 17.

Kennedy, despite his size, has never been an impact player. He's a workhorse style prop, like Aaron Woods for example. I thought he did alright last week to be honest, but he was certainly the worst forward against souffs.

Hannant, who a lot of people wanted gone, has been going better each week, and is definitely making a play for an Origin jersey.
I'm not giving up on Kennedy just yet, but someone needs to be in his ear about using his size to dominate and intimidate!

I guess with kennedy they will persist with him. He hasnt been horrible but he hasn't set the world on fire either. The issue is hala isnt cut out at the top level. The game is go quick for him now and he struggles laterally as does Kennedy to a lesser extent.
Griffin needs to invest more minutes into oates. He is damaging with and without ball. He needs more game time.

do we have a prop called Martin Kennedy ??

The ~350K he gets probably will make us pay extra for other players we want to keep when they look at him. I doubt we can get rid of him because no one else will want him, but we really should never have signed him, we didn't need a "workhorse" prop (especially one who is struggling at getting any work done).

What does Kennedy do exactly as a workhorse prop? What are his metres? Has he really driven an opposing forward back in a stinging tackle?

Correct me if I am wrong but to me, he lumbers a few metres and is put down really easily. I'm not questioning his commitment to the Broncos, just that he looks way way too big. I mean, even George Rose has more impact than Kennedy.

If he is 122kgs, maybe he should lose 10 for starters.

Hannant and McGuire are workhorse props for mine: vigorous, determined, passionate runners, and Hannant in particular I really like 'cos he looks to, and does, pass the ball as much as he takes it up.

He now appears to have taken a liking to running sideways across the park too, not running directly at the defensive line.

He appears to have lost his way somewhat, which is pretty sad as i think if he gets back to running straight and hard he would provide so much more for our team.

I'm positive the current coaches can tell him how they want him to play without getting Civo etc down to have a word.

I'm not positive he wants to do it, it's a fucking hard thing to do, running into 2 and 3 big players and trying to be dominant and being able to back up every week is something that has to be in you already.
