I thought 6 but I gave him a 7 as we've gone from a God awful, getting repeatedly raped , shithouse wooden spooners to something that resembles promise . With the new Club Management , roster of signings , and some pleasing development of some of our already rostered players , on the whole it's been better than disappointing , as opposed to that Siebold shitshow . I do see belief building amongst these players , I'll put my hopes and trust in the Kevolution. GO The Broncos.

I think some may need to temper their expectations for 2022.

We still have massive holes in our spine at 1 and 9, and possibly 6 if Gamble and Kelly fail to fire next to Reynolds.

The inclusion of Reynolds will solve one of our biggest headaches, being end of sets and getting some field position, and Capewell provides us an 80min set and forget player in a position of need who is infinitely more dangerous than Glenn.

But outside of that recruitment has been pretty lacklustre and we will still be using a shit ton of our cap space on players to play elsewhere (Lodge, TPJ, etc.).

We will still be largely dependent on the guys we had this year, and the return and health of Staggs and Carrigan.

If Cobbo and Paix somehow solve our problems in the spine then great, but I wouldnt be banking a top 8 spot on a pair of 20yr old rookies in two of the most important positions on the field.

I also expect we will get reamed by the draw next year, because it happens every year.
Melbourne first round with “Coates” that’s a given and then whenever latrine is due back (probably round two) so souths because “Reynolds”then maybe bulldogs rounds three with “tpj” depends if he gets a suspension this season though…. Then we’ll get panthers because “capewell”
Titans “Fifita”
Warriors “Walsh”
Cowboys “Timmy dudins”

While I think we will crawl into the 8-10 region of the ladder, most my excitement comes from Reynolds having a brain for game management and for Staggs being healthy 🤞

Staggs is such an incredible strike weapon to have. I don’t think it can be overstated. Add to that the best prop in the game. We are trending up. But yeah we are still short a fullback and hooker which will prevent us from being anything other than an alsoran

Me 1 to 4.
Thinking 6/17 is stretching a pass mark.
Clearly an improvement from mid season. Maybe coincidental with Dave and Ben saddling up but always going to be difficult for a rookie coach to 'save' the Broncos as well as coaching them in his first year.

4 - While the team is starting to play as a team, he still can't use his interchange and his team selections suck.

Given the hole the club was in, it's hard to not give him a pass mark seeing as we are at least competitive every week now.

The next step is the one we are all waiting to see how he goes, that being getting a team he assembled into playing finals footy.

I wanna see the club start filling the holes and to an extent they have done that with Reynolds and Capewell but they really need a 9 and if possible a 1. If we look at the likely side going into next year, you can see this is not yet a top 4/6 side:

1. Niu (bottom 5 fullback) / Cobbo (rookie but with huge upside) / Farnworth (unknown)
2. Farnworth (better than average)
3. Staggs (Elite)
4. Lee / Cobbo (average / rookie but with huge upside) / Farnworth (better than average)
5. Oates (becoming more consistent / above average)
6. Gamble (all heart player but really slightly above average)
7. Reynolds (bottom of elite category)
8. Haas (elite - best in game)
9. Turpin (bottom 5 hooker / not really of relevance in today's game)
10. Flegler (above average but prone to brain explosion, big upside)
11. Capewell (bottom of elite)
12. Riki (at present average but huge upside)
13. Hetherington (at present average but big upside)

14. Paix (unknown but if kicks on, could be what we need)
15. Carrigan (above average but coming back from a long term injury)
16. Kennedy/Jensen/experienced prop (most likely whoever is here is average)
17. Robati (average but huge upside) / Bullemor (average but huge upside but also possibly gone)

18. Piakura (unknown quantity but has cool crazy eyes)

So all in all, I think this equals out to be a position 7-10 side, so really Kevvie needs to make finals to get an extension.

I would be hoping to see some sort of identity within the team next year. I want to go into a game and know how we're going to play.

Are we a defensive wall, free flowing attacking side, grind it out conservative team, etc.

It's hard to get a gauge on what we will turn out each week, because of the floor that we came from last year and the inconsistency that was there at the start of the year... every game there is that worry that we fall in a heap and get a score put on us.

I think Kevvie wants us to be a free flowing attack team, but we dont really have the weapons to execute that... it's pretty much just Staggs.

Reynolds wont assist with that as he's more geared to being a grind it out, field position and conservative style.

I think we still need that gun at 6 or 1 to be our strike player in the spine that can open up the edges.

At the moment we're trying to be a grind it out team that concedes 20pt a game and has zero field position.

I dont think that's Kevvie's fault I think that's just the balance of the squad... he's basically got a reserve grade squad right now with Haas up front.

I think it's still a few years away before balance of the team sorts itself out, unless one of these kids becomes a superstar overnight.

6, others have covered the reasons but basically we've a lot more heart, the blowouts have stopped, save for a few crappy decisions (player and referee) we could have a few more wins. Next year looks promising which isn't something you could say earlier this year.

Slightly over a pass mark, potentially a long term option but next year is going to give us a lot more insight into whether he is/isn't.

I think this is a fair assessment,

9 is by far our biggest problem

The 9 issue has been a Farce, we barely used Levi at all during the season until now, he had an average game when he started but didn't have time to prove himself before Kev committed to someone else for next season, he was playing well in ISC too, by the sounds of things it looks like we have little hope of resigning him but I think he is better then Turpin and there is **** all options in the market.

🤣🤣 How did you manage to provide a response with a team list?

Rather than tell people what you’re having for dinner, do you list out all the ingredients instead?

Paix might be preferred option? If he can replicate what Levi has done (and Levi's ceiling hasn't been that high) I'd suggest a split between Turpin and Paix could be serviceable. Definitely need an upgrade there longer term, though.

Anyway, I went with mark of 7, and that's probably slightly on the generous side if I'm being honest, but given what Kevvie inherited, and how far the team has come this year, I think he's definitely earned a pass mark. I mentioned in the last thread I wanted to see a minimum of six wins and we hit that - ideally we'd have claimed a few more competition points, but on the flip side of that is the fact we were in a bunch of games and only just lost on inexperience, poor choices, and questionable calls.

I want to see immediate consistency and consecutive wins early next year, and with the pieces we've added that's achievable. If we finish inside the eight that would be a successful year; if we win more gams than we lose I'll consider expectations to have been exceeded.

I don't remember looking forward to a season in recent years as much as I'm looking forward to next year. If we can stay injury free and keep building on what we've accomplished this year, we'll give the comp a bit of a shake, I think.

Chin up, lads, next year we've still got Kevvie!

It was a beautiful post wasn't it. As a matter of fact, for dinner last night I had:

500g slow cooked rump steak
Chianti based sauce
Oven roasted potato
A pinch of paprika
A hint of basil
A quarter baguette sourced from Provence
A sprinkling of Moroccan salt
A side of Tuscan bruschetta
A glass of Bourbon with cola and ice

I originally said 4, but now I think it's a 5. But I said then that it was his second year at Catalans that he improved, so next year in a tougher competition will be make or break for him.

It won't be easier next year and they would be fools to believe it will be. But they should definately be fighting for top 8. Top 4 is a bit of a stretch at the moment for me.
His second year at Catalans they went backwards, not improved.

2009 13 wins and 14 losses
2010 6 wins and 21 losses

What’s the 2022 hypothetical ingredient list going to look like though?

I love KW as a broncos legend and a genuinely good bloke, but some of you are very very soft markers. How he could get a pass mark for a season where he wins 6 games and runs second last is beyond me.

I could not in good faith give him an extension at this stage. It will be necessary to wait until at least 10-12 rounds next year. If we start the same way we did this year I can't see how he can be extended.
