THE EX Kevin Walters

Do these idiots realize they don't have to talk to the media? They can just work things out without letting everyone know what's happening..
Yes....for the love of god

WTF?

Kev has definitely drawn his own line in the sand for next year.
I can only see this going 1 way unfortunately.
Unless we manage to get a 9 he has pinned his career to his sons/paixs performance.
The only top 8 sides that could go backwards are Storm and Parra.
Titans prob improve, Dogs improve, Manly improve with Turbo back.
Apart from Walsh and natural improvement with experience our squad is the same, potentially without Hass as well.
So those games against this year's bottom 8 sides become a bit harder.
He's got it all to do.

Pretty poor form from Kev. Completely airing out the clubs dirty laundry and sending passive aggressive comments towards Ikin

“Ben is new to the club”
He showed up 6 months after you! If he’s new, you’re new.

“Ben needs to be better”

“I don’t have MAJOR ISSUES with him”

then he goes on to say in his 20 years of experience the head coach didn’t have to answer to anyone but the CEO and they ran the football department. Kev, you aren’t Wayne, or Bellamy mate. Ivan had to answer to a football director and look how they’ve gone.

Why you would say any of this to the media is astounding. I’m so off this guy. At least this has confirmed that Ikin had nothing to do with Kev’s cooked team selections, the biggest bedshit in top 8 history, or the total neglect to sign anyone who could replace his below standard son.

This is also a misstep from DD for not clearly defining roles and responsibilities - which it seems is being fixed now. I can’t wait until we find a decent coach.

In your stupid rant you conveniently left out the fact that he also says "I need to be better"

Not sure if the titans can improve, but I think dogs definitely improve... rorters will be better from the start next year and souths with Latrell will also be better from the start.

I think Sharks over achieved and cows could be interesting, but they'll probably get a soft draw to help them out again.

Parra could definitely be a slider... not sure storm will be though... they still have Munster next year and are aiming high on replacements and will have money in the bank to splash big on a Douehi or so, who was keen to be loaned out to them this year.

I think without improved defence and significantly improved fitness that we could very well slide back down the ladder. Elite fitness is an absolute necessity in the current game in order to keep a fast line speed and create the image that you're 'not offside' all game

Cool. Does that make up for all the rest of it?

It’s great watching your mental gymnastics in sugar coating every little thing the club does.

No player or staff member have made a single misstep in your eyes. The broncos are beyond criticism.

that whole article is overblown media shit that they wrote to get stupid people to fall for ... congratulations, you fell for it

When you "freeze" some one out you don't fucking include them in discussions.

also it is not KW who decides the reporting hierarchy, it's DD
it is not KW who decides everyones job descriptions in the entire organisation, it's DD.

Ikin may want to take over the NRL team, but it's not his ass on the line if we fail. it's KW.

just look at this forum as an example. people are giving him plenty of credit for our signings (even 1 he didn't make), but absolve him for blame in area's we are weak in. people can't have it both ways

At least you are now criticising Ikin and Dave. That’s a start. I don’t care if you don’t agree on my assessment of Kev but at least stop pretending everything is perfect.

I think Kev is the idiot for giving the media a story. They wouldn’t have been able to write anything if he just said “Ben is an asset to the club and a joy to work with. No further comment on the matter”.

how the **** do we know Kev gave the media the story in the first place ... maybe it was their good mate Ikin ... or Newscorp's plant Karl Morris.

just because they inserted his comments first in the article, doesn't mean the story came from him

Ummm ... given his background I would suggest Ikin knows that exact point.
Which is why he hasn't given any quotes (please direct me to them if I am wrong).
Which isn't to say his perspective hasn't been communicated once Kev made the issue public.
As theshed says, Ikin (smartly) disassociating himself from Kev's selections, game plans, interchanges, ... AFTER keeping quiet about it all year makes me think even more highly of him than I did before.
The fact that Kev can't see the impact Gus has had at Penrith and now the Bulldogs highlights, yet again, how far off the pace he really is. Do you reckon we could use Reed Mahoney (or did Steve think Billy was enough ?). Any thoughts of letting Haas go (as he wishes) and using the money to buy Mahoney ?
Kev is like someone who won a week of Celebrity Apprentice, being given a job for which he had no qualifications (and despite repeated applications wouldn't be given it anywhere else), but now thinks the episode should be turned into a series, and then a multi year series, long after the episode has run its course ...

His comments are the issue

I'm not sold on Souths. I don't think this season could have unfolded any better for them, giving Latrell half a season to get his mind and body right for the run home, allowing the team to peak while others had hit their plateau. He won't have that luxury next season coming off a World Cup and being a focal point for the Blues in next year's Origin series.

Obviously they're still a good team, but those structures that have worked so well for them these past five years are beginning to show their age and Demetriou is going to have to prove himself as a coach.

Still, Brisbane have their own challenges. There was a lot of excitement heading into this season but they hit a plateau and finished as a fringe 8 team. Next year players are going to have to go up another level and who knows if they have that in them.

Dear oh dear! With the way you made the decisions & let things happen at the business at end of season, you really think you’ll have any sway moving forward Kev? You’re literally petty & childish if you think Ikin can’t add anything better than you.

FFS, get on as 1 team & start trusting with one another before we head into preseason. If this stupidity drags on, it will have a big impact on the preseason & subsequently the season itself.

I hope DD mandates to Kev that from today, the coach should run everything by fhe GM of Football & get on the same page with him even if it hurts Kev precious little feelings.

#IstandByIkin.

With the way things are heading for 2023 I think we will be needing inexperienced players to become legitimate first graders over the preseason.

We've lost a bunch of experienced guys between this year and next, but heading into next year we'll be needing Piakura, TC, Willison, Cobbo, etc. to become legit week-in/week-out first graders overnight.

1. Walsh (needs massive defensive improvement)
2. Oates (has he even signed on yet?)
3. Staggs (inconsistent and had more lows than highs this year... need him to be a leader next year, but can he)
4. Herbie (consistent and vital for the team's general play... only signed for 12 months though)
5. Cobbo (exciting, but raw and inconsistent)
6. Mam (rookie six and heading into next year his competition for the position will be gone (Gamble, Albert, etc) and replaced with Madden)
7. Reynolds (only experienced player in the spine, but will be leaned on heavily and broke down last year)
8. Flegler (has patches of good form, but is inconsistent... need him to become a week in week out first grader that can be relied on heavily... can he do it whilst having NSWRL watching his every tackle?)
9. Paix/Billy/who the **** knows (Billy unsigned for next year and Paix barely experienced in running an ISC team on his own... Paix also unsigned beyond 2023)
10. Haas (is he even going to be here next year?)
11. Capewell (experienced and willing footballer, but broke down last year after origin duties and could barely finish out the year)
12. Riki (solid, but we need more than solid... looks to be developing more into a Proctor than a Dfif, Kikau, etc. Would prefer he move into the middle / bench role, but would need Piakura or TC to step up massively over the off season)
13. Carrigan (about the only player that is consistent, healthy and knows their role, but will be heavily involved in origin and rep teams moving forward, and will be a huge focal point of our team next year and beyond... i.e. huge workload expected of him next year... I think his mind is able to handle it, but will his body)

14. same as 9
15. Kobe (needs to become consistent overnight... was bashed and broken by the end of last year)
16. Jensen (consistent, solid and knows his role, but unsigned beyond 2023... we really need to lock him down)
17. TC/Piakura/Palasia/whoever (this position needs to become a bigger role moving forward next year)

Depth
Spine (Madden??, Mozer, Tesi)... literally no depth in spine positions outside of inexperienced players and apparently Kelly is being let go as well

Backs (Pereira, Arthars, Quai-Ward, Mariner, Hoeter (still unsigned??))... outside of Pereira and Arthars it's basically inexperienced youth

Edge forwards (TC and Piakura)... is there anyone else?? Palasia I guess, but he should not be relied on as depth for edge backrowers. I'd like to see Kobe evolve his game to also be able to cover the backrow if needed.

Middles (Palasia, Willison and Bayliss)... is there anyone else here as well?? Palasia can do a role, but outside of that we're relying on youth and inexperience again.
