Didn't know which thread to post this, but a lighter side to the characters. Maybe things are happier at HQ?

Starting to think I'm wrong about Kevvie. Few more performances like that without Arey and I think I'll be a believer.

DO NOT. Will jinx the club.Time to change the thread title: Kevin Walters: Coach of the Year 2022
Well the top two coaches are clearly Bellamy and Cleary, but coach of the year isn't neccessarily about coaching the top team. It's even more about rags to riches. The only competition Kevvie has at this stage is Payten. They were both on the chopping block and have succeeded making lemonade out of what everyone else said were lemons. In fairness, Payten has his nose a bit in front: the Cowboys were heavily tipped as wooden spooners, now they're at 3 with a PD to match.DO NOT. Will jinx the club.
I'd say it's a few things:The thing I have been most impressed with the last couple of weeks was his tactics and bench use. He has completely out-coached his opposite. We always knew he would be able to motivate his players, but his tactics have improved immensely in his time as an nrl coach. Whether that is bcos he has the players to carry out his plan, or he is listening to new advice it still is massive kudos to him. A good coach takes the right advice and finds the right troops....
Defence has been the most impressive improvement for me.I'd say it's a few things:
- In Reynolds he has the troops to execute a plan
- He's got the team actually playing in defence, which allows them to stay in a game and therefore the plan can be carried out for longer
- The team is winning, which increases confidence across the squad
- He's not doing 3 roles at once, now that DD and Ikin are there
I think Kevvie is a smart coach... he was our attacking coach in 2015 when we were absolutely creaming teams... it's just now he's got a team that isn't dropping their heads straight away and is therefore able to execute what he wants them to do.
If this team can complete at or above 80% I think we are very difficult to contain.
