Kodi Nikorima Joins the Warriors

I wouldnt agree its been a slow start for Su'a and definitely not for David! They havent been playing in their best roles or had much game time really. I would say only reason being is we need the experience Lexi can provide out there in our pack. Everything else he brings to the table, i believe Jayden and David can do equally if not better. I dont think Su'a at hooker is what we need. Why not Lexi at hooker as he has done it before?

I love the Warriors, but holy **** they make some fucking dumb, really expensive signings that always seem to bite them.

Personally think Kodi's style of play is a great fit for the Warriors. But 600k for a Kodi Nikorima is steep.

To be fair, Barba, Hoffman & Hala were in quite different situations.

* Barba was performing poorly, obviously hampered by injury and also being a dick. We couldn't find a locked-in spot for him despite us needing both a fullback and a five-eighth.

* Hoffman was bitching about wanting a role beyond wing, as if it was somehow beneath him.

* Hala was going absolutely nowhere and basically highlighted the gap between U20's and NRL.

McGuire, Kahu & Nikorima have all bled for the jersey, and were shifted around to suit the team's requirements at various times without making a peep. They are exactly the sort of players that fans have called for, in that they live for the Broncos jersey, they trained hard, and tirelessly chased improvement.

On the other side of things, it is true that we haven't won a premiership. If there was ever a time to have a cull, it's now, with a new coach, new facilities, and new mindset. And as has already been mentioned, the Broncos facilitated the above players to attract better deals than they had here - either better job security, better price, longer contract, or in some cases all of the above. Also, it would appear that we're chipping in very little, if anything, for the players who are leaving, which is fantastic for our future cap position. It sucks to have to show a bunch of dedicated life-Broncos the door, but it could have been much worse.

Edit: Quoted wrong post.

Well, frankly Kahu isn’t our best option for his position, he can play center, but after bird, Roberts, Staggs; he can play winger, but he’s not as good as Isaako and older too; Arguably he can be compared with Boyd given his form this year. But he’s competing with our captain. So I’m not surprised he’s no longer in our game plan any more, simply as that, he’s not that good.

McGuire is a bit different, he’s at his peak age and looking for probably the last big contract, so he’s after the best contract financially benefit him most, which is not wrong. But if he stays, the club definitely keep his position and use his experience to lead the team as other Broncos players have done. So there’s only one problem, money.

For Nik, I guess he might be angry because he’s been told by the coach he’s part of future plan for the game, now only one third of the season he’s out.

Every player has bled for the club more or less, at the end of day, balance between current form and future plan would be more important to the club if we are still fighting for premiership

Lol calm down Pagey. I think Moorepudding would be the only poster here insinuating that Boyd has been rubbish his whole career. The rest of us just think he is currently rubbish.

Ha ha ! Yeah, you're probably right.

I assume Alex Glenn is the most annoyed one, considering he was best mates with Kahu and good mates with Kodi as well.

We may not have to worry about him being too annoyed, he might be another one getting the tap before Round 13. I'd say the only reason Glenn hasn't been given the tap so far is the moderately slow start to the season for Fifita & Su'A.
Agree on Su'a but Fifita's been great I thought.

There's got to be respect both side of the blade here. If infact Seibold has given Kodi the heads up, he has done nothing wrong. Bennett was the one who continually promised Kodi the 7 spot.

Kodi should, and i hope soon, confirm and clear up the situation out of the same respect. After all, he could just be told, no release until season end etc. The longer it goes the more bitter he looks.
Mmmm, he promised he'd stick with him for last year NOT that he'd have the spot in perpetuity! He might very well have done the same thing as Seibs has done were he the coach in 2019.

Mmm, not quite. Better off not speaking for the 'rest of us' as at least one other poster thinks Boyd has been reasonably good for the last three weeks with an upward trend apparent .

from what's been reported, the deal would only be on offer to Kodi if he moved immediately ... which show even more that by Seibold and the club not forcing him to stay is doing the right thing by him ... not only does Kodi get to play in his preferred position, but he doubles his salary to do it ... from Kodi's perspective that should be 2 points in the win column, 1 in the loss column (the loss being that he won't be doing it with us)

Hasn't got the accolades as boyd but gets way less criticism. I like Glenn but after this year he is surplus to our needs.

I don't agree with that. NRL and big game experience matters when we have such a young forward pack.

Sorry should have clarified. The rest of us Boyd Haters.
Not sure if you fall into that category Huge?

I will agree that Boyd is playing somewhat better. I still think he is below NRL standard as a fullback but.

Can’t keep players just because they’re “family” and “nice people”. Last I checked, they’re paid to win games and premierships and not for hugs

If rumours are true and Su’a has been training at hooker to provide some spark in attack surely Seibold’s prefers option would’ve been Kodi off the bench. One could assume that Seibold offered the bench hooker role to Kodi and Kodi said he’d prefer to play halfback for NZ. To which Brisbane granted the release. If this is the case than no one has done anything wrong.

I just can't buy players refusing to play because they don't get their way. I just can't see it happening. Surely that would be a breach of contract or something? Even Hoffman, who left because he didn't want to be on the wing still played on the wing until the season finished. I dunno, I just can't get my head around something like that happening.

According to the NRL app, Deardon is 177cm and 80kg. At least we’ll still have the most midget halves pair.

I'd say 177cm is pretty normal for a half. Though NRL measurements seem to be different to real world ones, Nikorima and Bowen are supposedly around the same height.

2nd loss is having to live in NZ instead of Brisbane

Yeah it’s on the slightly shorter side. 80 kilos is very slight though.
