Kodi Nikorima Joins the Warriors

They whole family is close to Bennett, Steve wrote Bennett's book and Michael worked with him at the Knights.

It's pretty simple, they want him to stay but he will be playing 14. They're not going to stand In his way of a four year deal on more money if he wants it.

I assume they’re resigned to losing Roberts then? Staggs not having a spot would be ridiculous.

Depends if he wants a premiership or not I guess, but hard to give up double your current wage.

Paul Crawly painting only half the picture.

If you’re going to crucify the current culture-less broncos why not rewind back to 2014 when Bennett did the following on his return:

Released Ben Barba (in favour of Boyd), Martin Kennedy, Josh Hoffman and David Hala. Not to mention he’s tapped many players on the shoulder during his entire coaching career.

Where’s the uproar from Crawly?

I didn’t have an issue with what Bennett did back then as I don’t have an issue with what Seibs is doing now.

We’ve done the right thing, Niko is signing an upgraded deal, which by all reports is almost double his current salary. The rat signed a new multi year deal.

It’s not as though they’ve been dumped outside Centrelink, having to fend for themselves

Bennett did those all in the off season, the fans were aware before even a ball was kicked in 2014.

For McGuire, Kahu and Nikorima was just cruel. Not to mention our foundation coach who was contracted for 2019 and wanted to stay. Something stinks, starting to have a major dislike for Lockyer and his recruitment & retention board :-(

To be fair, Barba, Hoffman & Hala were in quite different situations.

* Barba was performing poorly, obviously hampered by injury and also being a dick. We couldn't find a locked-in spot for him despite us needing both a fullback and a five-eighth.

* Hoffman was bitching about wanting a role beyond wing, as if it was somehow beneath him.

* Hala was going absolutely nowhere and basically highlighted the gap between U20's and NRL.

McGuire, Kahu & Nikorima have all bled for the jersey, and were shifted around to suit the team's requirements at various times without making a peep. They are exactly the sort of players that fans have called for, in that they live for the Broncos jersey, they trained hard, and tirelessly chased improvement.

On the other side of things, it is true that we haven't won a premiership. If there was ever a time to have a cull, it's now, with a new coach, new facilities, and new mindset. And as has already been mentioned, the Broncos facilitated the above players to attract better deals than they had here - either better job security, better price, longer contract, or in some cases all of the above. Also, it would appear that we're chipping in very little, if anything, for the players who are leaving, which is fantastic for our future cap position. It sucks to have to show a bunch of dedicated life-Broncos the door, but it could have been much worse.

Edit: Quoted wrong post.

We don't know the behind the scenes conversations. It sounds like Seibold told Nikorima that the position at halfback was his to own and gave him some time to do this. When it became apparent that he could not own the position, or at least provide what the coaching staff were looking for, he was fairly told that they did not see his future in the halfback role but there was an ongoing role as a super sub.

Fair play to Nik, he probably sees himself as an International halfback and that a shift back to the bench will prejudice his development and his representative chances. I have no problem at all with him backing himself and wanting to prove that he is a halfback. If you throw into that the substantial contract increase it is a bit of a no-brainer. Plus, I think Blake Green and Kodi will work better than Kodi and Milf and this will allow Kodi to concentrate on his strengths rather than trying to be a game manager.

What although humans this club has turned into since Bennett left. How dare they want to play someone in a position that suits them and the team best and then let him leave for more money and contract length, Crawley waz right.

How was it cruel?

McGuire - We have too many forwards and ones that we prioritised retaining over McGuire so they allowed him to sign somewhere we he could get more money and a longer contract.

Kahu - Would only make first grade with us if there were injuries. Was an opportunity to pick up a gig elsewhere and play first grade so they let him take it.

Nikorima - He is not a halfback (this is not even disputed) so the club has done something that is long overdue and have told him he will be playing off the bench. He wants to play halfback and has now been offered more money and a longer contract to play halfback and they are going to let him go when he is still contracted.

They have done all this when these guys value is at their highest so they can pick up these deals rather than doing it after this season when their value would be lower after a season of playing down in the pecking order, in reserve grade and off the bench respectively.

Explain to me exactly how this is cruel and what exactly Lockyer has done wrong here?

I`ll be very surprised if the rumours are true .
I watched a Pod Cast with Lodge . He said a quiet family life was suiting him well . He was into socialising .
Moving to Sydney away from his support networks ? I don`t think so .

Badel putting words in people’s mouths

That's bullshit about Kodi being pissed and that's why he isn't playing, he isn't properly fit. The mutiny thing is a bit stretched as well, but it's got a small element of truth. The players were pretty angry at the treatment Kahu got when he left, and Kodi is just as popular. It could be an issue, but I doubt it's the issue Badel is making it out to be though.

The Broncos would be dicks if we didn't let him take up that offer.

Yep.

What amazes me with the media and some fans is that the Broncos are copping it for these moves. The have affected their depth and potentially their season (if Dearden doesn’t hit the ground running) to do the best thing for them and they still get attacked.

The media are out of control.

So the players are pissed that the club let Jordy go to somewhere he can get more money and play first grade? If that’s the case our players are fucking whinging little shit bags. If it where me I would tell them where the door is. I would rather go through a few seasons of wooden spoons then have these entitled little fuckwits in my team.
