Does anyone else smell change in the air? When the Broncos have moral they are the best defending team in the comp. If we get a good assistant coach to handle attack we could be contenders. Our squad definitely has potential. Anyone have any news or hunch as to who his replacement will be?

p.s. I mean no disrespect for Langer. He was a great player. Unfortunately he isn't right for the Broncos attack.

Alf was a skills coach, Paul Green may make a return.

Skills coach? Explains everything. Alf had natural talent, something you can't teach. I don't see how someone who 'Just had it' could teach it to kids.

I thought he just refilled the water bottles and faffed about in the backfield...

Definitely need to look at hiring an offensive assistant, as it's obviously a deficiency in Hook's coaching. I honestly don't know if this regime is reactive enough to do so, though.

I'd consider Brett Kimmorley. He's shown he has an excellent understanding of the game, he was a great half in his time, and I think he'll eventually become a quality coach, if he isn't afraid of losing that glorious hair.

The Walker brothers who have done a great job with the Ipswich Jets would have to be considered. After all they say, those that can't do, teach. I'm sure Paul Green is looking for higher honours also after doing a very impressive job with Wynnum.

I'm happy Griffin made the decision.

Very hard decision for the club to make but it's the right one. Langer, with all due respect, is a useless coach. We could get a much better qualified attacking coach who could legitimately be of great assistance in game plans, tactics and squad management than what Langer is.

I'm grateful for every thing Langer has done for our club and I hope he sticks around but this is the right decision for the Broncos.

It was Langers decision to leave.

Every coach has their own style, im not sure that hiring anyone new would alter the sides approach too much from the 'fundamentals focus' of hooks style which is in a similar mould to Bennett's coaching style. So really the Broncos have always been coached in the same way, minus two seasons, the only difference is we now lack the natural footballers that would compliment the basics. Ironically, Henjak was always highly regarded for his technical ability and he did try to alter the way the club had traditionally played under Benny and it put us on the end of some record defeats. Im not saying we cant change, Henjak probably went to one extreme and he had his other problems, but the club has never actually had an attacking focus to coaching at least, we were just blessed to have natural footballers that could compliment the traditional game plan. Maybe we do need to change but I don't imagine it happening under hook.

He had skills so why couldn't he be a skills coach??

I honestly thought he just ran the water and told the boys where to run haha.

We need a new assistant coach that can teach us how to attack and stick to a structure that works.

Not a bad shout.

His analysis of matches has always impressed me - granted that's not quite the same as coaching, but you can't deny he's quite knowledgeable when it comes to how to play the game.

No way Kimmorley will leave the Dogs and Des, especially seeing as Des has only been there 1 year
