While two competition points and righting the ship will be vital for both the Sydney Roosters and Brisbane on Friday night, it could be Darren Lockyer's appearance at the post-match press conference which steals the limelight.

Technically at least, that will be the Test captain's first appearance after his round four deadline to make a decision on his future in representative football.

Reports suggest the 33-year-old is leaning towards pulling the pin on his 30-State of Origin, 50-Test career.

So tonight is his deadline for making a choice. Anyone think he will actually announce it after the game?

On The Footy Show last night, he said he was giving himself until next Tuesday to make the decision.

Would not suprise me if the Roosters win tonight he retires from Rep footy right away.

But fair enough on waiting till Tuesday. Missed the footy show last night.

Win or lose I hope Locky retires from rep footy for himself. If he needs to go back then so be it. I think if we win and he has decided to pull the pin he may do so tonight.

Locky said there were two parts on his decision making process in whether to retire or not. Half was how well the Broncos were going which is fairly easy to ascertain atm. The other half is how well placed the maroons are placed.

Injury to Prince gives Locky food for thought. Can people see JT moving to 5/8 and having Cronk at halfback? Having the Storm combo in half, hooker and fullback could go a large way in covering a lot of the disadvantage of Locky not playing. We can't disregard a member of their team at centre either. Having the core of the form team (as at the game I am watching right now) can't hurt.

Right now, locky in the origin team actually makes it weaker. Cronk showed today just what his combination with the storm boys can do. No-one else wouldve run that play, not thurston, not lockyer. Thurston is carrying the cowboys, and they are still competitive right now, locky is playing behind an undermanned and inexperienced team and is struggling to stand up like we know he can.

Locky retiring from rep footy is best for Broncos - we need him out there to help these young kids through what is usually a period we are dreadful in, and thats with experienced players. It will help QLD because it will get our best team out there. Cronk and thurston are the 2 form halves in the game atm, lets run with that and get 5 in a row!

LOL

i dont expect much from u, but you just failed to meet my already super low expectations of you with that solid argument.

if you can actually try and say lockyer, in his current form, no reputations on the line, is in good enough form to play origin, then say it, but ull only be saying based on your love for him, not logic.

I suppose I shouldn't expect any less from a Storm fan.... Lockyer isn't playing badly he is just playing in a beaten team. I think Lockyer will retire anyway so I guess we will all see how good Cooper Cronk is at origin level.

So do you think lockyer is playing better than cronk? Do you think lockyer, with only folau (hopefully) and thaiday in the QLD team, is a better option than Cronk with slater, inglis, and smith alongside him? Dont u think that combination would be invaluable in a game against a team that, as usual, have a new halves combo and most probably a totally new look team? I ask this as a logical question here, all bias aside

I don't think it will matter TBH. I'd imagine Slater, Lockyer, Thurston and Smith already have a pretty handy combination after playing 3 origins series together and test matches over the summer.

You're right, they do have a good combination, much better than whatever NSW will throw at us. But their side will be mucher strong than last year with the 2 morris boys at back, the return of cooper and the possible inclusion of inform players like pearce and carney.

Im not going to give you shit for ur opinion if u honestly can say u think lockyer is the better option, but to "LOL" at my post, without even having an opinion yourself (you failed to answer any of my questions in the last post) just shows you probably dont have much logic behind your opinion except for that you love lockyer

I don't think having Lockyer in the 6 in an Origin game was or will ever be a bad thing.. Every year the blues are supposed to be stronger yet the continue to pick the same tards that can't play. If Lockyer plays on I have all the confidence in the world we will have a stronger team the NSW.

again, not the question im asking, we all know on paper our team will be superior with either cronk, lockyer or even prince there. the fact u still cant say lockyer is in better form, or would be the better choice shows deep down you know it wouldnt be the absolute best decision for QLD

I think he is the better choice if he wants to play on. Cronk is in super form but playing behind a winning pack. Lockyer would look just as good probably better behind a winning pack.

fair enough... or should i say 'LOL'??

you can say what you like, I still think Lockyer will retire so Cronk will no doubt be in the 7 but Tim Smith was in awesome form for Easts so you never know...

Don't get me wrong fellas. Can't beat having the two best players in the world in the two most important spots (half-5/8). The only thing that depresses me more than a Broncos loss is a Maroons loss. I was asking if people think if Cronk can fill some of the gap. The current Maroons would def. have a combo going.
