I don't agree that Lockyer shouldn't be there Queenslander but I do agree QLD wouldn't lose much if he wasn't there because there is two VERY good half backs to replace him with thurston to 5/8.

I hope he retires, best for him and the Broncos.

that was also half of my point, that its in the best interests of broncos also.

If he plays for QLD I don't think we can make the 8 this year, if he doesn't I reckon were in with a chance.

lol

Queenslands team would be better with Thurston and Cronk, no ifs, buts or maybes about it. The 2 best halves in the game on the same team, and one of those halves having a deadly and premiership winning combination with the other big players on the field, is the strongest combination you can have. having a 32 year old whos form over the last 18 months has been sketchy at best, who will only have a combination with a forward and maybe a centre, is not the strongest combination.

He won't retire.

He'll play on for another 2 years.

You could be right he may want to win a few games and his best chance is probably for QLD

Don't think he should make the team anyway, he's been rubbish since his injury last year

No decision tonight, We will know on Tuesday.

After tonights game, I would say Locky is going to retire. His performance was pretty ordinary tonight as well.

I'd argue he shouldn't retire. The results aren't like last year - we've lost half a team.

Locky 100% needs to retire from rep footy - use the example shown by Langer and Webby before him and commit to the Broncos who pay the majority of his wages - we need him now more than ever

When did Langer do that?

Tallis may have, and possibly Walters but that may need some clarification.

Locky is one of those players who would always punch well above his weight in SOO, or all rep footy, anyone who doubts his contribution is kicking a man when he is down - he has proved time and time again what he can do at that level and if he thinks he can go on then he can.

We will see how "cronk" goes if he gets selected, see whether he can handle the pressure, cause Princey has showed that he can't and has left us short before. He is after Darren in the selection process for sure.

great use of double quotes there...... :S

QUEENSLANDER - I don't think it will make the QLD team "weaker" personally. By Form I agree with you, I reckon he has been playing pretty ordinarily - a few nice touches here and there but he just cannot carry a team of kids at his current age nor does he have the physical ability to do so.

However, origin is a different story. Best of the best mate, with those players around him - with his current age he will play a different role - but his classy touches and chiming in attack will be nothing but deadly. I dont buy into the form rubbish - it doesn't matter for a player like Locky, he could walk into an Origin team and produce a class act. No doubt about that.

How is that for a backed up argument?! =)

TBH, I don't know if it is going to make much difference to us if Locky retires from SOO or not on current form. Wallace will not make the NSW side, and the only other one of our players (other than Locky) who is likely to make the side is Thaiday on current form. So this year, is probably going to be the least interruption that we will have. Certainly having Locky in the team is not making much difference at the moment. Unless they change their structures and get some attack going his absence will not make one iota of difference IMO

Thats what i was looking for! i do agree lockyer steps up when he needs to, i just think its time QLD looked to the future and ensure we get this 5th win. I think we can do that with locky there tho, so i guess we will just wait and see
