He won the BHQ POTS because people give him votes every week for who knows what reason. If you can honestly say that Lockyer was even close to as good as Thaiday or Kenny last year you are kidding yourself. People on here love the guy and fair enough, but he would get a 1 or a 2 from some people on here on weeks he would miss 12 tackles and not lay on any tries in a losing side.

Can I get some examples there please Gymp? When the POTS was introduced to BHQ by ning, the first thing I thought was that people are just going to vote for their favourite players. But I remember sitting here last year thinking we've been pretty much on the mark every week.

Oh I was worried about that too mate, and you are right it was pretty good for most of the year. However, I honestly thought Lockyer ended up with votes on numerous occasions which I thought were very surprising. I am not gonna go back and look but I specifically remember thinking that.

Exactly my point though - Lockyer's first half of the season was a bit sad, but after origin he fired up and nearly got us to a GF. I remember Jeb tipping that Lockyer would come home firing, and guess what he certainly did.

I guess the conclusion is he wasn't carrying though - he was excelling in his role and had the artillery. What we are currently trying to do or hoping to do (if he quits rep) is for him to "carry" our current squad. I have no doubt in the world he would have been able to if it was 01 but not at the moment...

IMO I would be looking at a game plan with Wallace calling the shots and taking the line on and making the plays with Locky chiming in (e.g Thursto/Locky in QLD 09) ... I'm not sure if Wallace is the answer for the Broncs but if we are going to stick with him this sort of idea would be a step in the right direction...

and this way Locky can still make the "big" plays if the game is close and he needs to...

So awesome effort not getting Tim Smith to stay, we could use him now that Lockyer will be playing rep football. Hello missing out on finals first time since 1991!
Shattered.

we can't force Smith to sigfn with us... and Locky being away for 2 games will not make us miss the finals.

besides I think Wallace is likely to miss NSW selection making him available this year, plus Ben Hunt will get some much needed experience in the top grade.

Personally i think it's a selfish call

You can't be serious!! If he's good enough to play then he should play. The Broncos can't rely on him and him alone to make the finals. In a few years they won't have him at all.

Is everyone who chooses to play rep footy selfish? Why should it be any different for Locky?

Tim Smith wasn't signed with the Broncos, he was with Easts.

Besides we have Ben Hunt etc.

Away for 2 games? What about the games he may miss to injury?

As apposed to the two games he would play with the Broncos where he is apparently immune to injury?

You've reached your conjecture quota for today.

Who's to say that each of your scenarios couldn't happen while playing for the Broncos rather than for QLD?

Honest question, not saying you're wrong. When was the last time Lockyer was injured during an Origin match? (I don't mean when has he played with a pre-existing injury).

Forget that. Last year haha. I blame jetlag. [eusa_doh

He'll have a stronger pack around him playing for QLD, which if anything DECREASES the risk of injury. Injuries sometimes just happen though. Look at the time he did his knee in 2007. No-one touched him.

Well i am ... 100% !!!

Locky's had a great run at rep footy. The Broncos continue to pay his wages while he's away playing origin and Test matches.

Now i think it's time he stayed at Red Hill and helped guide the future stars of our side through the Origin period. He doesn't need to play on at rep level ...... he's won/done everything there is to do at the highest level. The only way to go now is down IMO.

We can't afford a mid-season slump on top of the start we've already had anyway.

Yeah because his loyality has never been to the Broncos, never willing to do whats best for the Broncos like switching from fullback to 5/8th or re-signing when he could go elsewhere for more..........I mean you wouldn't see another previous club captain like Alfie retire completely early into the season because of a form slump at a time the team needed him most and sign elsewhere...............oh wait

Lockyer has done more then enough for the club, the fans and the game to be entitled to make the decision for himself, he doesn't need to prove that and though I would prefer him to retire from rep football I certainly wouldn't question where his loyalty stands, I know where it is.
