Brisbane Broncos coach Ivan Henjak has not ruled out using internationals Darren Lockyer or Justin Hodges at fullback next season with troubled footballer Tim Smith a big chance to re-ignite his NRL career with the Broncos.

So thats

1.Locky
2. Winter
3. Izzy
4. Hodges
5. Yow Yeh
6. Smith
7. Wallace

Awesome team maybe swap Wallace and Smith but still an Awesome team. Glenn on the bench to fill any injuries and we are set. Love it

*Cringe* Locky? Fullback? No no no no no.

Im kinda excited to think of Smith/Locky/Wallace on the same team thou and able to feed the ball to "Yowyeh,Winter,Hodges,Izzy"

Are you also excited about the headline "Ben Hunt signs with Manly"?

Oh hell no, and the poor bloke would be heart broken if he had to. Id much rather Hunt instead of Smith. But the idea of Smith is still exciting.

Yeah, if Hunt doesn't continue to develop and Smith shows form in the lower grades, sure, no problem. But if Smith is in the 17 for round 1 and Hunt isn't I'll be disappointed.

or we may see Hodges at fullback.. Michaels in the center

Don't want to see Lockyer at fullback. Hodges wouldn't be bad, depends if he can regain that form of 2006.

Definitely do not want to see Michaels anywhere near the team, ship him off to Taiwan.

as great as lockyer is, he wouldnt be a great fullback anymore, hes just too slow, and his tackling has gotten worse over the years. he was the best one-on-one tackling fullback in the game, but now he falls off every second tackle.

Henjak only mentioned that Lockyer has played there before, that's it. So if for some reason we were super duper desperate for a fullback then Lockyer MIGHT play there for a match, but he would be found out instantly and wouldn't return to the No.1.
Currently we have Kemp, Beale, Hoffman and Copley competing for the spot. That's plenty of cover and it should only be one of those players, not Hodges or Lockyer.

That's because he'd being made to attempt 25 tackles a game. If he's at fullbackand only has to attempt 2-3 a game then he'll have no problems.
even if he went back to attempting 2-3 a game, i dont think he'd be that effective. its all about technique, and if youre missing 10 out of an attempted 30 every game, your technique is the problem. moving to fullback wont fix that.

other players handle the fatigue just fine. apart from kHunt, who also couldnt tackle his way out of a paper bag.

his bodys just not up to 1 on 1 tackling anymore.

id rather watch My teams fullback miss a tackle then watch him risk someone elses career by kicking at em..

Seriously drop the K-Hunt hate his not even a RL player now.

But when you're getting smashed every game and are forced to do so much work, you become fatigued which leads to loss of concentration which = loss of technique.

Seriously, his technique is fine.[/quote:1qn2x3s8]

I'm sorta with you on this one Rock. He just falls off or misses when he screws up... I would assume half the time it is because of his size/age/strength. He's not a great defender - moving him to FB won't fix that. Don't forget he was the best cover tackler in the game in his hay day but that is when players are running AWAY from you... not directly at you in the line. It's all beside the point really -

Bottom line is - he will get smashed at FB. Don't put him there. No logic in that since it takes away invaluable experience for our next young gun FB.

Lockyer isn't fast enough anymore to play fullback, regardless of anything else both age and a serious ACL injury mean he would be much less effective than he was all those years ago.

does he really need the speed thou? he could play the role K-Hunt played for us and feed the ball along the line. Let Winter and Yeh do the sprinting
