NEWS Lockyer the man to solve Bennett, Broncos standoff

It could be that the 'affair' and breakdown of his marriage is having an impact on his ability to do the job and that's why the board wants him to go.

Let's face it, Bennett just isn't the coach he used to be. Perhaps his personal life is getting in the way.

What absolute rubbish. How is he less of a coach now?

Okay I'll play along.
In what way isn't he the coach he used to be?

How many Broncos sides in the past were mentally fragile that they crumble when a few calls go against them?

In the 90's, he created a gameplan and formed a team that suited the way the game was played and was able to get the best out of his players consistently and for long periods of time. We were dominate as a result.

That isn't happening today and it's costing us. This is why we have a terrible record against the benchmark sides. Because they got with the program and changed tactics to gain an advantage over their opposition and that's why they are the benchmark and we aren't.

I don't know, it was a different competition then, but we've had the second highest win record in the comp since his return? We do beat good sides, frequently. How many top teams have we beaten this year? It's seriously only the Storm we collapse against, and well... Cameron Smith. No body can beat the Storm frequently, and no team will as long as he's in that side.

But really, the argument doesn't make much sense, because any coach aside from Bellamy is an objective downgrade.

Maybe they don't come out and say that because they genuinely haven't decided on keeping Wayne on or not.

But why? His record speaks for itself, most of our stars have said they are here because of him, he wants to keep coaching here beyond next year. What is the reason? There must be one and they should let us know what it is. They clearly have some issue, otherwise they would be keen to keep him here.

To me it sounds like a dick measuring contest. We have a new chairman of the board who has waltzed into the joint determined to show he wears the big boy pants regardless of the damage it will do to the team.

You might be right here. Bennett has quite likely the most control of any NRL coach. It’s how he works and how he does his best work. I can imagine that puts some people off-side.

I know Benny would not want to sing about it, but did he not just clock up his 500th win when we beat the Snarks? Another massive milestone that will go a long way before it is matched or surpassed and would otherwise be screamed from the rooftops if he just happened to be a NSW coach. Not a single word uttered by the Ch 9 commentators, or indeed the press who love to bag him. Take a bow Benny and well done Broncos too.

Pretty sure he got the 500th win against the Panthers not the sharks

Well that makes sense, I mean the media had to move on from that game as soon as possible. We couldn’t focus on that game for too long because it would highlight the darling panthers major issues.

Fortunately after a last gasp win against a truly horrible side the narrative is back on track. Panthers are a genuine premiership threat whilst we after putting 50 on them and beating the Sharks are no chance.

It could well be the club doesn’t want to give anything to the media since they only ever do one of two things:

A. Make stuff up and then build further lies on top of the first lie before them believing these fairy tales are true themselves.

B. Take whatever is said totally out of context, manipulate it, sensationalize it and then go full on stupid over it.

Wayne has said the board wants to wait until the end of the season and he agree with the season, his words basically in the last post-game press conference.

Why does anything else need to be said?

Because it sells papers/is click bait, and potentially destabilizes the club

Sure, if the club is run by your average forum poster. I'd sure hope it isn't and that those in charge pay less attention to the 'journalists' than the fans do because these 'journalists' give nothing but trouble and take all the credit when stuff happens that they knew absolutely nothing about.

Paul White's response about the 'journalist' knowing he made something up is all they could and should say. Give the media absolutely nothing.
