THE BOSS Maguire Stomped The Naysayers! But...8 Months Later, Here We Are.

I know this is somewhat tounge in cheek, but don't you all reckon it's time we held the players accountable?

Coach after coach after coach and the results are the same.

Time the players took some responsibility for this shitshow.

Makes you wonder what all those pre-season accountability camps are all about. Not many are digging in when it's tough.

We're overanalysing it all. When we pumped the Bulldogs the boys were cuddling like the were in The Notebook.

Walshy posted a video of him fingering Billy's mouth last night. Like hello, they are in love.

They looked more unhappier at the end of last year
Just the usual fairytale narratives on BHQ 🙃

Another popular one is reyno and Payne liking Sualiii's Instagram post which has supposedly caused player unrest lmao.

I wonder what was on his finger....

Tune it to his youtube and you'll get to see it in 1080p glory.

I managed to screenshot the insertion!

Madge made some big selection calls at the start of the season by bringing back guys who Kev had ditched, and within a few weeks had a lot of pundits calling him a genius. Further into the year, only Shibs is looking like a good call (granted Gos' injury makes him hard to assess) and the only slight backwards step from Madge has been Paix to bench. Now Baker's back in the side out of nowhere... this is just starting to look like he's making selection calls simply because they're not what Kev would do.

Thats what I'm saying... it's not just us that he's done this, but people here are willing to let a bloke who's been here for three seconds blow the joint up. That happened with pies and I'll be ****ed if we should do it again.
At what point do the players take the hit?.
Pies Kev and Madge, 3 completely different coaches. Too technical, too easy going , too hard.
Talk about a goldilocks squad. At what point is everything juuust right.
The common denominator is the players.

Hard to argue, well said.

Hard to argue?
On what planet does anyone think Maguire is selecting players based on what Kev would or wouldn't do?
Give me a break.
Here's a list of players the genius Kev had but didn't keep.
Throw in 2 of biggest reasons we caught fire in 23 Reynolds and Walsh who fell into his lap ( He let Walsh go too but got lucky).
Kev had 3 shit seasons for a reason, he just was not that good.

I wish I was gay so I could still enjoy supporting the broncos half as much as you do

Edit: sorry this rant ended up being a really long one

Everyone who has played sport, especially social sport where there isn’t a coach to crack the whip, has experienced teammates who have a higher level ability than most the team or comp and then do really annoying shit like crab sideward and run backwards until they are cornered, they’ll chuck a rushed pass to someone not expecting it. They hold the ball for an impressive amount of time without being stopped thanks to their footwork and evasiveness, but 80% of the defensive line just stands and watches them step 20 times in all directions but forwards.

Their mentality was always “avoid being touched at all costs” rather than thinking “what is best for the team right now”. So they would do exactly what I described above. After them scoring 2 or 3 tries per game each but losing 4 games in a row, finally enough argument gets through to them that their footwork and speed would actually be really great at building momentum and getting quick play the balls by running straight, getting a quick touch, and now we are set up to attack a retreating defensive line.

Typically you’d then dominate the opposition, maybe even win a game or 2 but either they get bored with it, forget, or as soon as there is a tough opponent - they go straight back to the mentality of ‘I need to win this on my own’, which actually ****s the whole teams chances of winning.

The issue is, objectively if you watch those type of players, they are making line breaks, scoring tries, making some defenders look silly (without actually making any metres). So to them and outsiders, it looks like they just played another incredibly dominant game. How do you tell that guy that he’s the one who needs to change?
Herbie Farnworth. And yes, Payne and Patty. Loads and loads of metres, but not much comes of them. In fairness, Payne has found an offload this year, and that's great, but half the time there's no one there to pass it to.

Yeah but sometimes offloads are brutal to the game plan when you are working toward specific points on the field.

Not talking about Haas specifically, he seems to have a pretty great knack for knowing when to pull the trigger. Far better than a TPJ ‘offload every tackle’ approach.

Imagine being a half trying to set up for a particular play or kick, and the ball is worked toward the required point in the field only to be offloaded and flung to the other side of the field for a gain of 3m.

I'm not for a second saying that Kev had it all figured out. But from how Madge has used the squad he's inherited almost completely from Kev, some of his selection calls look bizarre

And that gets compounded because the players aren't smart enough to read and react to what's happening in front of them.

It just feels like way too much of our attack is telegraphed... what they did on the training paddock is all they want to do on the field... and then they don't even do that right.
