The expectations on the Sharks to deliver in '09 might be a bit too much for them.
It's probably not the way they want it.
With Matuia, Two-Poo and Gallon in the back row, that is just about the perfect balance.
In fact, if you were hand picking the back triangle, that is as good as it gets.
If they don't win it, they won't make the 8.

It's the best backrow of the comp, no doubt.

Can't say they'd be my first three picks if I had the entire NRL at my disposal, though.

To be honest I'd prefer the Dragons backrow of Creagh, Smith and Costigan. But very good nonetheless

Yep free up about $350,000 a year aparently... still they could of got away with offering reni a lot less, so if anything they could still have money to spend!

Gallon is far from the top 3 backrowers in the comp. With him in there, I don't see it being that great. Also, by mid-season, Maitua will have either an injury or another court case so he won't be playing.

Yeah theres a reason why the dogs offloaded hughes... still from what I heard the sharks picked him up nice and cheep, aparently he had a lot of trouble getting offers I heard. Despite degois gone I say their top 4 this year, as always injuries dictate who gets to the GF I recon so thats in the hands of the gods.

GREG Bird has been released from his contract with Cronulla and won't play for another NRL club in the 2009 season.

There has been speculation he will seek to join either Wigan or Warrington in Britain's Super League.
