They all get the same money from the NRL. In the past there was a gap between the cap and the grants given to clubs, but that's now closed and covered. It's the other expenses, the day-to-day running, the coaching staff, the facilities, that teams have to pay for themselves, and that's where the discrepancies between the rich & poor clubs lie.

But yeah, if the NRL fronts up whatever the marquee allowance is, and they should because keeping the stars in the game is really a benefit to the NRL itself, then really clubs aren't paying any more than they are now.

This is correct now but for he future it is going to depend on who is the most fucking hopeless financial basket case and they will get the most money. The commission has already stated this is what is going to happen.

If there wasn't a salary cap only the wealthy clubs that can afford anyone would be competitive and the gap between the premiership heavyweights and the battlers would be wider.

The nights can't find decent sponsorship or investment, Tinkler saved them. Why should the Broncos be affected because of that business not doing well enough?

There is always a reason why investors won't touch a business. Companies have to adapt, and change, to lure investors, why should football clubs not have to do this? Run your business, and run it well, the investors will be there.

There would be steps needed to be taken to remove the cap, and that's where the NRL would need to step in.

Work with the clubs who are in trouble financially, work out where the issues are, fire the useless footballers who can't count, employ business people in roles where business people should be employed, and let them turn the business around.

If they can't do that in the allocated time, then the options available are merge, or relocate, or here's a lump of cash to give your members, it's been great, you're now part of the history of this game.

The NRL need to work towards having more control over the game, and how it's run. Right now they pander to the NSWRL and it's idiotic management who are holding the game back. Go to them, tell them what's going to happen, and if they don't fucking like it, they can withdraw from the competition, and the NRL can move forward with the introduction of a new team in another area, or run with less teams.

Banning shoulder charges and punching isn't going to propel this sport into the world, making big, tough, ball breaking decisions will.

**** me. Yes of course they should be able to, that's why I hate the salary cap. My point is, if you bought this in today there would be clubs that can't afford to pay that money.

So if club x can afford to pay there players 6 million, but club y can only afford to pay 4 million, then that's defeating the whole purpose of the salary cap. Hence my point that if they bring this in they should just get rid of the salary cap

Incorrect. There will still be a salary cap for (maybe) 25 players with an extra player being allowed to be paid up to $1.5M on top. Every club will be allowed to do that so there is no disadvantage. I fail to see how a club cannot get corporate support despite how financially troubled they may be to get that marquee player.

I can't imagine a financial troubled club like Cronulla not being able to get financial support from a corporate sponsor to help get $1.5M to get a player like Slater or Cronk.

Well I can't imagine the move towards dropping a salary cap would be completed within the period a TV deal is signed for. For it to be done right, it could take upwards of a decade.

No cap means no one can point fingers at Folau or whoever follows the money to the exclusion of all else - not the world I want to see
