Who here has a courier mail/daily telegraph subscription?

Can I suggest we stage a protest of sorts.... cancel the subscription and when they ask a reason state why: "the ridiculous agenda being pushed against the Brisbane broncos"..

I didn't even read the article because I don't want to give it the click but I got the idea of it. An ex girlfriend from years ago gets tracked down after we win and suddenly finds the courage to come out with who Matt lodge is. Courage that wasn't there for 2 years while she stayed with him and courage to talk to the media but not the police I'm guessing? Again, I didn't read it so if I've got something wrong let me know

So nothing we didn't already know? I don't understand what this article is about other then that we won and they want to re-open the attack to throw us off our game

Remember when Tallis beat the shit out of Ross? The bloke doesn't have a leg to stand on

Worse than that, he didn’t beat the shit out of him because Ross insulted him or they some feud etc. He beat the shit out of him because he thought people didn’t fear him anymore. So he made a cold, calculated, planned decision to start a fight with him and beat the shit out of him. Something that he proudly tells everyone on the radio constantly and his star studded little boyfriends all think it’s great.

A bit wrong.

Arrested August 2015- Charged with eight domestic violence offences. He pleaded guilty to one of them in May 2016. Neighbor was a witness.

Two years good behavior and no conviction recorded.

Jess Halloran from the DT is running out of stories on this though. It's become an obsession for her. Most people have moved on but she feels really aggrieved it seems. Not sure how much milk is left in the bottle on this story though.

Not one for trial by media but let's not forget that his indiscretions are not subject to conjecture.

If you've got a history such as he does, you're a fair target for criticism. Much of the questions being asked of his character and readmitance are not unwarranted.

I guess it's more the timing of it all, the very clear agenda by the media that are causing people to be up in arms.

For the media, this is about pressuring the NRL and the Broncos. They are on a mission and it seems like it isn't going to end anytime soon.

I agree. But with Jess Halloran - it has become a personal obsession for her. She has been a full time Lodge correspondent for the past 2 weeks. She's getting borderline bat shit crazy/obsessive about it. It's more about her than her readers now. For example, he's played two games and no one really cares now.

But she has basically run out of material now. Not sure how long she can keep it up with no new material.

my issue is not so much the criticism, but more that they never went anywhere this hard with other players that committed violent or other criminal offenses, they were all redemption stories ... some examples of players with as bad or worse indiscretions:

Stomped on a guys head, nearly killing him ... 1 year jail, not hounded anywhere near the extent of lodge.

Danny Wicks served an 18 month sentence for supplying and possessing prohibited drugs ... I don't think he was hounded at all, despite the fact that he could have ruined many lives by supplying people with illegal drugs ...

Greg Bird, glasses his girlfriend and then tries to blame it on his roommate ... barely hounded by the media, don't think he served a very long suspension either.

these players had the advantage of not playing for the Broncos, which means they can do what they like and it will be forgotten in a week

Honestly can't say I followed the media scrutiny in other cases, so any comment on the extent of coverage and criticism.

That said, I don't believe the focus on Lodge has anything to do with with an anti Broncos agenda. Lodge received plenty of bad press prior to coming here, and bad news gets the traffic. Timing is purely a function to maximise exposure.
