Anthony Milford is asked about the multi-million dollar lease on his motor skills that comes up for renewal at the end of this season:

"I want to stay here. That (his contract) is out of my control ... what is in my control is the way I perform on a week-to-week basis. It is a pretty big year for myself. My manager has a job to do but it’s up to me to perform."

Mouths to feed

“I am ready for the challenge that comes ahead and whatever comes my way I will take it with two hands. I need to be better everywhere, I have to improve my defence and make sure I’m in the game in attack."

“‘Kevvie’ (coach Walters) knows I’m on my game when I’m running the ball. I need to bring that consistently in games ... I’ll see how I go.”

“Being on the sidelines didn’t help (last year). My hamstring was playing on my mind a little bit. We have a younger group so we have to make sure we improve on last year and not end up with the wooden-spoon again. A big part of that is on my shoulders. I have been trying to focus a lot on myself this pre-season to make sure I am in the best physical shape I can be."

“Kevvie brings back the fundamentals of being a half. He is working hard with the halves and making sure we are getting our lines right and making the right calls. It’s little basic stuff I need to improve in my game. I have passed all the tests on my hand to be passed fit for round one. I haven’t played since the Dragons (in August) last year so I can’t wait to get back out there again.”

Well he wants us to at least avoid the wooden spoon this year, so at least he’s aiming high.

I know the poor bugger has to give the journos something, but gees I’m getting tired of hearing about how important his running game is each and every pre-season and then seeing exactly none of it for the following 26 weeks.

Come out and prove me wrong Anthony, I dare you!

Reasonable chance he will prove you wrong up right up until about Round 14-15 when he inevitably convinces us to re-sign him, and then not again for even a single moment after that until the next renewal, with the only potential exception being the running game he turns on should they bring the McRib back again.

Aww how cute, he has his father’s thighs.

Milfs strong suit is his offload game as well as his running game. If we could hang some support runners off him, he'd be so much more value.
And vice versa, trail after Lodge, TPJ, Flegler for the offloads. Both him and BHunt were pretty electric backing up Blair, Thaiday and Parker in '15.

He'll look a thousand times better playing behind a pack that's not thoroughly beaten running one outs and getting picked off easily by a set, rested defensive line, but might well still end up a casualty of fatso's reign of incompetence.

He'd have to have the season of his life, and even then 500k max and one year at a time. He's proven beyond doubt he does not deserve long contracts because he's a lazy ****.
Exactly this.

Time's up, Milf. Sink or swim time.

So what will qualify as a passable season for Milford? There's clearly star playmakers out there that have been in sides that have struggled to make their mark. Mitchell Pearce, Daly Cherry-Evans and Shaun Johnson all come to mind, so does it come down to individual stats? If so, what's the line?

10 tries? 15 Try Assists? 100m+ Average?
