Mitchell Pearce suspended for 8 weeks

Being the accuser, he shouldn't have to do the work for you. You want to rebate his accusations, which he supported with " evidence", the burden of proof or creating enough doubt, is on you.

I already did that.My point was they were both as bad as each otherand I was told that that was rubbish. That's just how some people taalk to one another whether others' like it or not but they are both guilty of that. If the NRL had a problem with it he wouldn't be playing.

as well as abusive SMS exchanges in which the couple hurled obscenities at one another.

This is the most interesting bit in that article:

"I spoke to Cath from the club ... she advised me to keep this quiet as if I was to report it to police they will leak it to the media,"

who's Cath? What's her role at the Roosters?

if what she is implying is true, and a staff member from the club tried to cover it up, regardless of the legitimacy of the allegations or the individuals motivations, this should be treated very harshly. Even more so depending on "Cath"'s role at the club.

Article says she is the liaison officer.I'm not really sure what that is but I'm sure it's possible she was required to keep things confidential by request.

No crime against having a fight with your partner. I'm certainly glad no-one has a transcript of any of my arguments with hubby.

Contrite little schoolboy looks all sad, wears his best clean shaven suited appearance, says the right things, gets his bat and ball back in a couple of weeks.

Means none of it. Learns nothing. Watch out Bondi.

No one really cares but voices their keyboard outrage because, hey, everyone can mash a few words and numbers together into a sentence on twitter these days, which will be faithfully republished by the premier media outlets of this country unedited.

He'll be playing Origin, sponsored by VB, XXXX and Bundy Rum, in May and this will all be a distant memory.

NRL and Integrity - just get over the whole role models thing and life would be so much easier.

Better idea. Fire the fucking deadshits, and life would be so much easier.

It's not that simple. People don't just declare people as role models - kids pick them for themselves. If you don't want to be a role model, don't play a game where your entire wage comes from a TV rights deal that's been brokered to give the game maximum exposure to the public. **** off and work a regular job like the rest of us and play park footy on the side.

Well I think you're partially right.. but kids dont pick role models..... the media do. They're the one who talk up the exploits of players abilities, (try to) convince us that they're "superstars".
I dont reckon there is a player in the NRL who at age 17-19 thought "I wanna be a role model", no they thought "i wanna be xxx player or play for broncos/bulldogs/etc" they just wanna play "park" footy. Fortunately for us their talent dictates they play in the premier competition and we, the consumer benefit from their gifted talent. Some still want the anonminity of park footy & subsequently act out like the majority of their peers.
I dont condone pierce, carney or the like & their actions but i am sure as shit happy i was never talented enough to face those challenges.
