Never undervalue the top 4

I like the finals system as it is now. I don't think any changes are needed.

I am optimistic about Origin next year not totally screwing us anymore, with Parker gone, that's one less origin rep (hopefully DCE/Morgan stay as the #14) and I believe the second origin will be a stand alone weekend? So there'll be a good 5 weeks between the 1st and 3rd game which should mean a lot less disruption.

Sorry mate, don't kid yourself. Milford is playing Origin next year. No chance in hell Kevvie leaves him out.

Off the bench (barring injuries to Cronk/Thurston)?

I think he'll be in the squad, but I don't see him playing any games.

Milford will get a serious look in 2018 as next year is Thurston's last series. Will also be interesting to see how Milford handles Origin as he has come up with some errors at the big moments this year, he gave the Cowboys the ball with 2 minutes to go throwing the ball when he didn't need to which resulted in them leveling the game at the death.

Can't see them dropping Morgan. He's got far more utility value, and he's proven himself. If it ain't broke...

I think they both have the same utility value, to be honest.

But I agree, I can't see them dropping Morgan. As you said, if it ain't broke... He has done the job asked of him so far.

But it's not just that, it's his combination with Thurston. That's valuable, and I believe one of the reasons why QLD have been so dominant is because of the club combinations in the side. A lot of the players play in the same team and have developed combinations that I believe are very valuable in the Origin arena.

So the Qld 2020 side looks something like:

1. Munster
2. Ponga
3. Chambers
4. Gagai
5. Holmes
6. Milford/Morgan
7. Taylor/Elgey
8. McGuire
9. Parcell/Granville
10. Napa
11. Lowe
12. Gillett
13. Papalii

14. Morgan/Milford/Granville/Parcell
15. Wallace
16. Oates
17. Hess

Something like that does not scream continued domination.

Yet last year two minutes from the death he busted the line wide open and ran 50m downfield, before his teammate tried some Harlem Globetrotters one hand garbage.

I'm sure to suit any argument we can come up with any number of scenarios that Milford is or isn't a big game player but let's remember he's in his early twenties.

Don't you feel your cursing these guys a bit. You've already done that to Cherry Evans. I can see similarities with the current QLD team and that golden Australian cricket team of 2007. I remember when Warne/McGrath retired (Thurston/Smith) and all those guys came in and we were told they would continue Australia's legacy. They crashed out very quickly.

Remember the Maroons are not the All Blacks, they will not dominate forever.

Aren't you agreeing with the point I made in my post?
