New TV deal brings salary cap up to $7m?

Aren't the Roosters & Bulldogs already on the 7 Million salary cap.

Going by the players the Titans are after, they are close to the 7 Million.

I'm with AP on the rising of the salary cap slowly.
Go from 4.25m and raise the cap by 300k a year over 5 years until it reaches 7M and in the meantime use the excess money on promoting the game and funding other areas.

By the time it reaches 7m the next tv deal will be coming into place as well.

$300K x 5 = $1.5 million
+4.25 million = $5.75 million

With your 'accounting skills', there could be a job for you at the Storm.

[icon_lol1. Was meant to put 500K so roughly 7m by that time.
500k per year is a big increase and to do it for 5 years in a row is better than just putting it straight at 7 million and then not having much room for movement.

Judging by his accounting skills he would have had the storm at least 2mil under the cap.

Do NRL players have a CBA?

I believe so. I think one is negotiated by the players association (RLPA).

I heard Channel 10 will be chasing Friday Night footy extremely hard.

And Channel 7 are looking for a night of footy as well.

May end up like this.
Ch10/One HD: Friday night
Foxtel: Saturday night
Ch9: Sunday afternoon
Monday: Channel 7.
In some order like that.

I hope we get a similar deal to foxtel so we get all games broadcasted live on foxtel along with the other channels.

Oh man, if this happens, imagine the fights about who gets to broadcast the Broncos or Dragons... [icon_ee

I imagine their would be an order of choice depending on what they pay.

Yep, but them achieving that consensus should be fun to watch... [icon_wink

I think the NRL should set the dates and time. Then the stations pick it as they choose.

Of course they can suggest what they want, and if the NRL want to be nice, they can be nice.

Or the NRL could also say. Bidding starts at $10,billion for this game. Go nuts TV losers. Whoever has the higest bid by this time, get's the rights to the game, and when they want it played.

I don't know if this would work. It probably wouldn't. I really just wanted to call them all losers.

Except Foxtel. I like Foxtel.
