What's wrong with Mid-October?

That gives us 2-3 weeks after the season ends to make sure we're getting the right guy and gives the new coach a month or more to prep for the pre-season.
Our season ends on Friday 25th September and every other club has picked a head coach already because they realise coaches need all the time they can get to prepare for a campaign
The coach needs time to get his squad together, assistants in place and draw up a battle plan. Then there is the retaining of players as we would like to think of locking up our talent before they hit the open market. The new CEO is dragging out too. They have known all year they need a new ceo and still haven’t appointed one. It’s like they couldn’t give a **** and will happily blame covid for all their incompetence to not even be able to carry out a simple task of finding a coach and ceo.

Agree. Seibold was a dead man walking well before he got the axe but they dragged their feet, wasted valuable time.

Seibold is gone but nothing major changes until the club gets a full cleanout. I don’t know what the financial side of the club is like, but on the football side this current lot do nothing right.

3 other clubs have all appointed coaches in short order.
Only the dogs are a hold out but they are a basket case on and off the field - like us!
Dogs have appointed Barrett, they were the first of the 5 "coachless" clubs to announce the new coach, 3 year deal announced in July.

I think Bennett's plans moving forward may be similar to what he's doing at Souths now.

Come in as a senior coach for a couple years with the intention of an assistant taking over.

It's what he proposed to the Broncos board for him with JD, and it's what is happening at souths. There were also reports of the dogs making an approach to Bennett coming in with Ennis as an assistant and eventually taking over.

It makes sense for Bennett to come in as a guy that can right the ship, get the football department setup with pathway systems and oversee development of a new head coach.

Kind of like a 2yr consultancy at the club to get them setup and on the right track before moving to the next.

You would probably just look to limit his involvement in recruitment and retention, given he wont have a long stay at the club, but other than that he could be a good option to get things moving whilst providing instant credibility to a club

Sounds like someone we could use.

here are Bennett's comments on Walters ... I could be reading this wrong, but it seems like while he is saying Walters is what the club needs right now, he is not giving him a wrap as a coach. (see bolded)

“The big thing for me is that Kevin would unify everybody at the Broncos.

“He was a great player for the club, the fans love him and as a Broncos coach, the Queensland people have to have that confidence in you.

“Right now, the Broncos need to be unified, rather than someone in there being a super coach.

“Kevin is not a divisive person.”

Locky has confirmed coach to be named by mid-October, White WILL have input (WTF) into the process and no recruitment and retention decisions until new coach on board. He sees Kevvie and Green as the leading candidates at this stage. Morris says whoever it is will not be getting anywhere near a 5 year contract.

Locky confident a"couple of tweaks" can solve our troubles. Not sure about that one Locky, you might need to lay off the 'Karl Morris/Paul White Kool Aid' mate.

Paul White isn’t fit to choose the next Store Manager at the Rockhampton Subway store.

I also don’t see the need to wait around until Mid-October to sort this out when Seibold has already been gone more than a week and they obviously knew a while before then that He’d be getting the ass.

Frankly I wouldn’t be surprised if the delay is around White needing more time on the staff computer to finalise getting his own resume in order. Either that or googling ‘how to hide a three year blank space on your resume and still seem legit’.

That is what everyone on here that is advocating for Kevvie has been saying.

Lol nice try but if that's what you got from what Wayne said your agenda is showing.

this coming from the king of the agendas

Wayne Bennett said and i quote “Right now, the Broncos need to be unified, rather than someone in there being a super coach."

this implies he doesn't rate Walters as a quality coach ... if he did he could have said something like "not only will Kev be able to unify the club, but he is also a quality coach" or something like that ... but he didn't he made it seem like we have to choose between unification and a having a super coach"

FTR, i don't think there is anyone on the planet that doesn't believe that Walters can unify this club ... the questions are over his capabilities as a head coach.

No it doesn't. It means he doesnt think hes a super coach which there are probably 3 people on the planet that you could call that. (in league)

Maybe Wayne doesn't want competiton for the job ?

You don’t really believe this is what he meant by those words, do you?
