Particularly when he was given the Queensland team to start with but still took him four years for our first Grand final. Plenty good wins along the way though. You’ll have to ask Huge what the boys on the original Morse code precursor of BHQ thought about the young upstart Wayne Bennett getting a crack.
Where have I said that KW is a good coach, can you direct me to that? And what is with raising Nathan Brown, talk about a strawman argument, you must have sucked at debating. Once again, overall in his coaching history Nathan Brown is at 50%, you managed to avoid the 26% win rate at Newcastle by being selective. I am just calling you out on your bullshit again in cherry picking one year and not addressing the entirety of his coaching record. I see that you have failed to address my other post, is that because you have no answer to that. KW's overall coaching record including everything stands at 59%.
By the way, he made the challenge cup semi finals in his second season, the season which you rely upon for his win percentage in Super League, might pay to do your research a bit better. In his first season, despite finishing 8th they made it to the qualifying final losing to the eventual winners Leeds Rhinos.
So you are choosing to ignore the Queensland Cup coaching history? Cherry picking confirmed. All good, surprised that Demetriou ever got appointed to a head coaching role in that case.i'm looking at his ENTIRE top grade club coaching career, and that is my concern with Walters. especially how his team seemed to drop off a cliff somewhere between his first and second season's with Catalans
BTW, the NRL doesn't have a challenge cup style comp to look forward to if he sucks at the main premiership, like they do in the ESL.
FTR, nothing would make me happier than Walters killing it and proving my concerns were unfounded.

I think JD may well be the exception, I think he is a good coach and it appears he is doing a fair bit of the coaching at Souths already. I know (now, ah the benefit of hindsight) that we picked the wrong coach in 2018, but I fear that down the track we will be saying we should have chosen JD.IMO, the ESL is a closer guide to predict a coaches success in the NRL than the QLD cup. when asked to take a step up, he wasn't successful. does that mean he won't be successful now? ... no, but it is the best guide we have to go on for him.
the difference between JD and Walters, is that JD doesn't have a top grade history to review. Walters does. Besides coaching the Clydesdales would have been much easier back then because he got all of the Broncos fringe players in the one team (unlike now where they are spread all over)
i'm surprised that Souths bent over for Bennett as well ... they talked tough about not doing that when he got there.
If i was JD, i wouldn't want to be following Bennett ... i don't think any of the coaches to do that have recovered yet, maybe JD will be the exception to the rule, only time will tell.
I think JD will go ok, Souths do have a pretty well balanced squad at the moment with a good pair of halves and quality 9, JD will inherit that, if he is smart he can continue to have success there for a few more years.
It wasn’t that bad, in his first season he made the playoffs and in his second season agreeably it was pretty underwhelming.... it must also be remembered that from memory he did decently in the intrust super cup prior to the super league stint and since that stint he has had a decade working with the two of best coaches of all time as an assistant and for the maroons as a head coach... and to me those series wins as the origin head coach don’t stick out to me... it’s the previous series losses where he has motivated and gotten a far worse side to compete with a far greater side... more specifically last year where we lost in the dying secondsand you've lost everyone ... A 37% winning record is not a reasonable job in anyones language
I've said this numerous times, I don't think his recent Origin record gets enough recognition. He had us up to our eyeballs in that 2019 series despite NSW having a vastly superior side with better players in basically every single position. It wasn’t that bad, in his first season he made the playoffs and in his second season agreeably it was pretty underwhelming.... it must also be remembered that from memory he did decently in the intrust super cup prior to the super league stint and since that stint he has had a decade working with the two of best coaches of all time as an assistant and for the maroons as a head coach... and to me those series wins as the origin head coach don’t stick out to me... it’s the previous series losses where he has motivated and gotten a far worse side to compete with a far greater side... more specifically last year where we lost in the dying seconds
Pleased to see him get a start elsewhere. He didn't deserve to end up on the Assistant Coaching scrapheap just because Seibold was punted.Peter Gentle has joined the Dragons coaching staff for next season.
Unsurprising, I think we're going to clean out nearly every staff member.

Hook and Gentle working together. Thank **** that I'm not a Dragon fan. Mind you, being a Bronco fan is nothing to boast about these days.Peter Gentle has joined the Dragons coaching staff for next season.
