Nines / Trial Games

Wallace, Arrow, Hipgrave, Collins, Molo, Sua, Blacker. We have had some decent young forwards come through in recent years that have moved on. We have probably kept the best of them with the exception of Arrow. I am a fan of Blacker too. I would love to get him back.

Just to show you how crap people think we will be ...

We are 9th favourites for the Premiership at $21.

Normally we are at least top 4-5 favourites to win the comp.
Pre-season odds are based on how we ended the previous season. No further comment needed there.

I'm not sure how well these will turn out, but these are the stats I came up with for the game.

Very poor stats from the hookers nothing to see other than turpins tackle count

NRL.com are streaming all trials this coming weekend. Broncs and Tits at 7:00pm Sat. Not sure about Kayo yet.

Why are we talking about 2018?

Top six is easily achievable this year. If we fail it will either be down to the players desire, or it will be down to the coach and his gameplan and him picking underperformers like in 2019.

We have a quality pack, we have strike in the backline and we have one of the best halves in the game in Milf. Croft will help with game management as well. We clearly have a lot of talented players, and the younger guys are now one year older and wiser. Anything but top six is failure.
I completely agree with a Top 6 assessment. I was pretty firmly on the Top 4 projection earlier on but the loss of Lodge won't be insignificant in my opinion. It puts a huge toll on the others to pick up the slack and whilst the replacements are all highly capable, I think it's probably fair to say that none of them are quite at Lodge's level. It also places us under huge pressure if we suffer injury or suspension to any more of our middle Forwards. I think that will all combine to lead to some generally good but still somewhat inconsistent results. Add to that a bit of an Origin workload toll and I'm revising my projection back to a Top 6 estimate at this stage.

The sooner we get Lodge back the sooner I think we can put pressure on a Top 4 berth in my opinion.

Top 6 isn't an improvement on what we did two years ago. This team isn't top 4 material, I'm not sure if it's even playoff material. There are so many question marks. Only time will tell.

No, but we have clearly and obviously gone a long way backwards in the last 2 seasons, so top 6 WOULD be a significant improvement on where we are at as of right now...

It would of course be wonderful to continue to improve every single year and never go backwards, resulting in a team never having to climb again.

Please which fantasy world of professional sport this apparently occurs in...

At least Lodge did it in early February. Even if it takes him 3 months to recover, it will still only be round 6 or so...

Ha ha, you'd be a bad bookie! Last season's finish is a guide to framing a market and yes, it's important but weight of money dictates.
Pre-season odds are based on how we ended the previous season. No further comment needed there.

Is Glenn injured or have I missed something

Looks like we know who the 1, 5, 9 and 13 will be now. Surprising Coates's shocker doesn't seem to matter.
You would think Isaako would play wing in front of coates

Yes I would have thought so too BUT Siebs has come out and said he doesn't view Isaako as a winger, says he is a fullback, so who knows.

He'll go great in ISC where he can learn how to tackle and read defence

Stats rarely reflect a dummy halves value. I thought Turpin was pretty solid, caused a couple of turn-overs in defence, did well to collect a charge down from the Cowboys that swung the early momentum back in the Broncos favour.

Imagine the people losing their minds if Macca pulled those kind of stats.

It's fair to expect more out of a player who has played 239 more NRL games at dummy half.

Coates is big enough (he’ll be massive this time next year) but he needs some aggression when he hits. Maybe Hodges can help him. And hopefully Boyd can help him out positionally.

Is Macca actually done in first grade? I bloody hope so.

Paix isn’t named so I doubt it.
