even the greats make mistakes ...

Croft was the halfback of the side that lost 2 games or something all year for a combined losing total of about 4 points ... that was until they dropped Croft and were then bundled out of the finals without a whimper

it is no secret that the Storm had to make room for Pap in the starting side ... unfortunately for them, they choose to get rid of a genuine halfback instead of their excess fullback, who showed in the finals he isn't a playmaker ... as soon as Smith retires that will bite them on the ass big time (it may even happen this season) ... but just maybe Bellamy doesn't care since he won't be around once Smith goes

I think Seibold will stick with him for the first 8 and make a call after that.

I agree with you but ay. His defence is terrible and he just makes a lot of errors.

On a positive note but, we do have a lot of competition for spots so it should keep him and everyone else on their toes.

Second game he looked more of a 13 a side halfback. Set up that movement to the right side... that is stock standard, but something we've been missing for awhile. Later he threw a nice pass back in field to attack in behind the ruck... again stock standard stuff but the kind of stuff we have been missing since basically Lockyer.

His defence looked solid considering it's nines and you're going to get a lot of one on one tackles against big physical backs and forwards.

I suspect he will cop it for his kick dead, but it wasn't far off and nines doesn't really lend itself to kicking games... he should've done better with it though.

He's basically there to get us around the field and leave it to the other half for the attack... and chime in when he can. Which I think he showed he can do quite well.

Yep. I agree, bud. I thought he did well. So did Dearden.

I swear some fans want him to be the most perfect player straight off the bat and can not see the positives in any game whatsoever.

A major part of the modern fullback is "ball playing", coming into the line etc.
I haven't seen Isaako do any of this, and if anybody can show me he can then I'd be happy to see it.
It just seems to me without that ability, plays would seem a bit disjointed.

Yes, I am having a change of mind about Issako at fullback. You are right about ballplaying, but defence is also a big factory and he shows some lapses during the 9s.

Nui looked solid. Bird, although relatively untested at fullback, would be an option I'd like to see explored before Round 1.

Seibold may be pushing for Bird to be No. 1 so he can play Boyd at centre. Which is crap.

maybe he is thinking Bird to fullback because both him and Staggs are natural right side players ... both of their form improved significantly when they moved from left to right center ...

this gets them both into the side ... not to mention that Bird is a much better ball player than Isaako ... which is an important part of the modern fullbacks game

No injuries is the major prize here, but also seeing Farnworth, Paix etc get a run was good and bad.

Good knowing we have some really good talent coming through.

Bad knowing none of em will get a shot cause of Boyd
