NRL 2021 Grand Final

clearly, Sutton (or the bunker) couldn't penalise the Panthers for the high shot on Gagai, because it had the potential to **** up the script for Vlandys ...

but damn it's annoying since the Flegler hit that cost us our second win over the Roosters this year, was a far softer hit than that one.

but hey ref one way all year (at least since magic round) ... then change it when it doesn't suit their plans in the GF ... definitely a professional outfit the NRL /sarcasm

Under these new rules, the GF now can be very easily scripted. I honestly don't know why I bother watching this shit. Fucking BS calls to wear Rabbits down all game and the whistle is put away for blatant penalties that would be given all season. That hit on Gagai was far worse than Flegler's.

Totally infuriating.

Yikes. That game will forever scar Reynolds.

Hopefully it makes him hungrier and he gets a good off-season to rest up that shoulder.
He was the best on field for souffs in the 1st half by a fair margin. He put himself in the position to win it or lose it. Cody "the MIA immprtal" walker runs away under pressure, it will scar souffs far more

Have to hand it to Penrith, they've been building for this moment for 10 years and it's finally come their way. They were clearly running on empty with a lot of players carrying significant injuries but on the big occasion they stood up. The kicking game from Cleary and Luai was as good as you'll see and they just kept Souths out of the game.

That's how the game felt to me. Penrith won by keeping Souths out of it, they didn't deal the winning blow it was an intercept from Walker under pressure to conjure up something and backing the wrong horse. Souths showed why they're one of the better attacking teams but they just didn't give themselves enough chance at bat.

In the end, the Panthers' defence was sublime and ultimately the best defence came out over the best attack.

People saying Panthers were offside all night, the 10m was shortened by Souths stepping well off the mark all night.

Mate if they were onside once tonight I didn’t see it. It was a dead set fucking Rort.

I'm not arguing that at all but they can't do anything about the officiating, it is up to the refs to do their job.

Regardless, how anyone could watch that game and think Souths were the better team, I'm not really sure. Penrith were hammering from minute 1-80. They were smashing Souths in defense, forcing mistakes and were attacking Souths all game. Souths did really well to hang in there and really could have snatched it if not for Walker's brain explosion and Reynold's missing two clutch kicks but they were not the better team.

this has been my biggest complaint all year with penrith. they are either the most fittest team by far or they constantly jump the gun while defending. they been doin it all year .

would love to have gone to some panthers game to see it live. cause on tele it looks suss as.

Have to disagree, I thought Murray was the outstanding Souths player.

Arey clearly hampered by a shoulder injury throughout. You could tell in the first penrith try that there was a clear effort to target him and it paid off. The missed shots will be what scars him.

While I hate Penrith, I think they are just super fit. Also the way they continually lift and drag back is crazy.

Unfortunately with onsides, that's just the current meta of the game. Teams are exploiting the one referee and they're sprinting off the line early on plays 1-2 since that essentially wins them the set. Teams like Penrith and Parramatta have become fantastic at this, while Melbourne will stand off-side to help corral the attack to one side of the field.

In this case, Penrith appeared more off-side because they had more opportunities to pin the Rabbitohs defence down. It's a major reason why even when the game is played to it's highest standard like tonight I struggle to get invested because there's no real ebb or flow. Both of Souths chances to get back into the game came off a fluke penalty and then a fluke six again. Otherwise teams are rewarded for breaking the rules and it's being encouraged by the media.

What grinds my gears is the lifting tackle. I'm not sure why there was a delay tonight but there were a few occasions where Penrith were allowed to pick up and carry the player when as soon as they're lifting off the air it has to be called tackled.

Yeah, their stamina is Rodney Howesque

Would Lattrell have been the difference? Guess we'll never know.
