NRL 2022 Grand Final Discussion

Anyone who says this isnt a stitch up to favour the Panthers would have to be kidding themselves. How much is Vlandys getting in brown paper bags to keep this going.

He literally tackles Kikau.

Parra deserve this tho. They’ve tried to take short cuts since kick off rather than earn the hard yards.

But please NRL. The Conspiracy Train. It's hurt.

Mitchell Moses reminding the ref he’s the captain too…

And this why the NRL is more scripted than all seasons of the Bachelorette, Bachelor, The Block and WWE combined.

That doesn't happen in the AFL specifically. The problem is the majority of the players come from Victoria and when they get drafted to interstate teams, the Victorian teams try and get them back.

The AFL tries to mitigate this by enforcing a two year initial contract for draftees and anyone who goes home after that must be traded. If a bottom team loses the player, they get compensation by the AFL of another high draft pick and/or the team who wants the player has to trade high draft picks. The 'victim' can also match the contract for the player and force the player to the pre-season draft where they end up at whoever has pick 1 there, likely the worst team in the comp.
That almost never happens though, because no team is going to give up a young star for nothing. The destination team (top 4 team) has all the bargaining power once again.

Getting draft picks as part of the trade doesn't help at all. All that happens is you draft another young gun and spend 2 years training him up to play for Geelong, who'll give you their draft pick so you can do it again.
