4th?! That's ambitious...

1. Melbourne
2. Roosters
3. Sharks
4. Manly
5. Penrith
6. Broncos
7. Eels
8. Bulldogs
9. Dragons
10. Titans
11. Warriors
12. Rabbits
13. Raiders
14. Knights
15. Cowboys
16. Tigers

Top 6:

1. Roosters
2. Panthers
3. Melbourne
4. Eels
5. Manly
6. Rabbitohs

Roosters should improve. Panthers, Melbourne; and Eels will be strong again with roster changes not impacting them until 2023. Manly’s season is relying to heavily on Trbo carrying them and surely he can’t duplicate last season. Rabbitohs lose Reynolds Wayne, and Gagai - will be a tough year for them but should stay in the 8.

7-12:

7. sharks
8. Broncos
9. Titans
10. Warriors
11. Dragons
12. Bulldogs

Sharks only just missed the 8 last year and have recruited better than any club. Should make the 8. The 8th spot could go to anyone really. I’m biased but things are seeming far improved, and Reynolds should be massive. Fingers crossed.

Bottom 4:

13. Knights
14. Raiders
15. Cowboys
16. Tigers

Knights have no established halves and have lost Watson. Now Brayley is injured. Not looking good for them. Raiders and Cowboys both seem toxic at the moment. Tigers are terrible but will improve in 2023.

I disagree ... they recruited well, but not better than us.

we were able to recruit the one they really needed as much as us, a game managing halfback.

I agree but they also got a great coach. Cam and Dale will be massive for culture too.

I think Reynolds is the best signing this year but overall I think the Sharks did better overall with Fitzy, Dale, Cam, and Nicko. We’ve done very well too though. It’s close.

I rate Trindell.

p.s. the Courier Mail published an article about the safety rating of all coaches. according to this article Kevvie is the second most at risk coach. they also keep up the line about Kevvie not having a contract beyond 2022, but they themselves published the story about Kevvie's "revolutionary" open ended contract.

I don't know how Payten and Barrett are safer than Kevvie ... anyway here are the ratings:

Bellamy: A+
Cleary: A+
Robinson: A+
Fitzgibbon: A
Holbrook: A
Arthur: B+
O'Brien: B+
Hasler: B
Demetriou: B
Griffin: C+
Payten: C
Brown: C
Stuart: C
Barrett: D+
Walter: D
Maguire: D-

I agree about Cam and Dale, although IMO it's still too early to call Fitzgibbon a great coach. he's got the potential to be a great coach and is highly rated, but he's still untested. (Seibold also had potential and was highly rated ... it won't be that sort of train wreck, but you get my point).

I'm not sold on Niko in the halves, it may have worked at the Storm, but the question is can it work outside the Storm systems.

overall though, both clubs have recruited well and I expect them to be the 2 biggest improvers in 2022

You are right. I didn’t word that well. What I meant to say is they did a great job recruiting a coach, rather than the coach being great. They got the best option available but as you say, time will tell how he steps up to first grade.

I also completely agree regarding Nicho in the halves. He’s a far better fullback from what I’ve seen, and he will be in a very inexperienced spine. I am still dirty that we didn’t sign him early in the season last year and give him the fullback role. He would’ve been great playing in the spine with Reynolds.

1. Brisbane Broncos
2. Who cares about the rest!!?

How do you still have Rabbits in the 8??? They have no halfback..

Even Seibold managed the top 8 in his first year. They have enough talent with Cook, Mitchell, and Walker to make the 8. You could chuck any halfback in that spine and scrape into the 8.

Their forwards are a bigger worry.

Latrell will miss a quarter of the year... All they need is one injury and they're cooked

Id argue that they have a significantly better spine than us, even with the loss/gain of Reynolds. If you think Rabbitohs are no chance of making the 8 than nor are we. If Reynolds is injured we’re cooked too.

They have the games best and only 80 minute hooker. A top 3 fullback. The best 5/8 in the game. If you were going to debut a rookie halfback you probably couldn’t ask for a better spine to do it in.

think the storm will come right back to the pack NAS,Hynes and addo-carr are big outs for them coupled with the extra scrutiny from there off season antics could well see them outside the top 4.

Add Finucane and Kamikamicka (assault charges).

They've lost their 3 first choice locks and 3 excellent forwards in the space of an off season.

Keen to see what their gain/loss sheet looks like for 2022

Melbourne Storm
Gains:
Xavier Coates, Nick Meaney, Josh King, Jayden Nikorima, William Warbrick
Losses:
Josh Addo-Carr, Max King, Dale Finucane, Nicho Hynes, Aaron Pene, Brenko Lee, Aaron Booth, Ryley Jacks, Isaac Lumelume, Daniel Atkinson, Judda Turahui, Tyson Smoothy..

And add Nelson/Kamikamicka as likely losses.

Will lose Kaufisi and B. Smith for 2023. They'll likely have money for a big signing or two
