CROSS FORUM NRL 2022 Round 9 Discussion

I think Eels will win tomorrow.

Panthers were very flat last week. They haven't been that good the past few weeks, they were just going up against bottom teams.

Eels haven't been great themselves, but they lift for these western derbies. With Brown moving back to 5/8, he'll bring that spark and provide that extra threat and take pressure off Moses.

I can see a win for the Eels.

You could see it coming from a mile away.

Panthers need to be very careful here about how they manage this period. This is the period where defending premiers tend to struggle. All good things must come to an end. They have been on a high for so long, it was just a matter of time until they came back down to earth.

If they don't navigate this period the right way, it's going to cost them later on in the season.

Roosters got it right.

Eels were the better team in the final last year that they lost to Penrith as well. They definitely appear to be a team that can really stink it up in games they should win comfortably, but generally step up for the big games.

The Eels just managed to hang in there. It was odd how quickly the game turned. The Panthers got an undeserved six again, Leota with the momentum forces an offload and Fisher-Harris just lacked concentration.

That was just enough to give Parra a chance and to their credit they took it. The pin-point cross-field kick from Brown just gave them another opportunity.

The weight of possession told and through a bit of structure and execution they struck. It was good work from Gutho to add a little finesse to the play to step back inside before throwing the pass and then Matto timed his run to perfection.

Then the try to Brown was crucial. Edwards has his issues under the high ball and the Eels made them pay with a bounce from heaven. It appeared he nearly blew it, I don't think he realised how far in-field To'o was until he was there like a cheeter but still he did well to slam it down despite the attention.

It's a well deserved win for the Eels who I thought were unlucky earlier. Obviously May's 1st try but the second had a questionable lead up as well. I thought Yeo got a touch first before the Eels played knocked it on.

And they have some potentially tough games coming up. Melbourne, Roosters and Cowboys.

Ref should say you guys do it again it's a penalty Penrith. Penrith got the "lucky" calls all game but those PTBs + mahoneys voluntary tackle should have penalised...
He should but in context it would be utterly ridiculous. They've never penalised it before and how often do we see players make similar plays as Mahoney? Regardless I'm pretty sure Cleary touched him on the ground ergo tackle complete.

I thought your boy played very well tonight ZTop GKDonkey. I thought he was a bit loose last year but he made some pretty strong tackles out there and really helped embolden the Eels pack.

There is a hell of a lot of Penrith/Cleary love on this fox post match for the team that lost.

How about the ref missing a blatant drop from Kikau and Panthers score next play. Hilarious.

If a ref stops play and says to a player/team "you do it again I will penalise you" there is ZERO excuse from that team or player.

So if making the "correct" calls, even though they aren't called in any other game or against any other team, isn't cheating... surely we can say that the same events NOT being called tonight (eg, raised elbows on defenders) IS cheating? As well as the other blatant calls that a cartain team always seem to get?

I'm afraid the list we have now is so extensive that it has almost become irrelevant. It is just expected now, we've been conditioned to no longer even be surprised. "Oh look, another one, oh well". While the media just bleat on about their own manufactured drama and make stories based on their own comments that nothing of substance is ever discussed.
