CROSS FORUM NRL 2022 Round 9 Discussion

If a ref stops play and says to a player/team "you do it again I will penalise you" there is ZERO excuse from that team or player.
It would be pretty rich of the referee to choose this very moment to step in when:

(1) Teams do this all the time and it's never called out like that
(2) The Eels weren't behaving any differently than other teams in this position

Even so, when Sutton warned Brown it appeared the Eels got the message.

Eels were the better team in the final last year that they lost to Penrith as well. They definitely appear to be a team that can really stink it up in games they should win comfortably, but generally step up for the big games.

Eels should have won that final if the ref had eyes.

Penisini was taken out which denied him a chance to have a play at the ball in a try scoring situation. Should have been Eels penalty and a Panthers player in the bin for the rest of the contest.

But it went against the Eels and it was called play on.

He should but in context it would be utterly ridiculous. They've never penalised it before and how often do we see players make similar plays as Mahoney? Regardless I'm pretty sure Cleary touched him on the ground ergo tackle complete.

I thought your boy played very well tonight ZTop GKDonkey. I thought he was a bit loose last year but he made some pretty strong tackles out there and really helped embolden the Eels pack.
My love for Shaun lane started as a joke, but he is definitely a quality player. Dylan brown has spoken about how much Shaun lane helped in browns debut year, with his solid defence etc. Lane can run a really good line as well, and he can be very hard to stop. He is an underrated player.

When do the refs ever call time off instantly for a slow PTB.

Pretty sure Schuster was binned in the last 20 seconds of a game for time wasting.
Must have been last year (he doesn't really play this year) (!)

It was for giving away a deliberate penalty.

That was during the Magic Round game where they had gave Manly an entire set before going back to a penalty from the first tackle. Also Gamble got sent to the bin for tackling too hard.

The infamous round where instead of admitting that the set restarts was a flawed system that led to fatigue and ergo more injuries it was the existence of head high tackles.

Lol Atkins enforcing a rule that hasn't been seen since 1908, because Broncos, and now NSWRL are forced to maintain it for consistency.

Tigers are done.

Their body language and energy is shit. Manly have a wind in their sails.

I don't know why he tackled the upper body of Garner.

Take his fucking legs out. They can't run without legs, and he had no one to offload to.

I don't think that's a try.

I think a Tigers player knocked on when Manly did.

But Tigers nearly bombed that.
