Have a listen to him? It's as if the money was coming from his own piggy bank. It's the tax payers' money mate and this is not a graft and corruption matter. Just because the tax payers' money was spent on footy stadiums doesn't mean the ARL/NRL owes you a thing. The NSW reneged on a promise to the NRL which would have secured the GF for Sydney for the next decade and so the game should be put out to tender and if there is extra money to be made we'd be down right stupid to pass it up.

The NRL administration IS downright stupid.

it's time to read Barrett his last rites.

Hooper is reporting that Gus Gould gave the playing group a "rocket" at the video session yesterday, before leading the training session

Barrett says:

“It’s not the first time Gus has spoken to the players. He and I speak on a daily basis often more than ten times a day,” Barrett said.

“We thought it was a good idea. We had a chat last week about some statistics that we keep and then Gus came in and presented to the team.

“There was a hell of a lot of improvement in the first half against the Broncos but then there were a couple of things that I thought Gus could help us with. It was good.”

“I wanted Gus to have a voice in a certain part of the field and give the team a bit of a rocket around our discipline and our line speed,” Barrett said.

“I’ve absolutely got no dramas with it because Gus can help us. That’s what he’s there for. He’s been terrific for me.

“He wants to win too and we all want results so if he thinks he can help with a couple of things then by all means, help. We’re all in it together.”

This has Dragons and MacGregor written all over it.

I think a large part of where the game has deteriorated (and people's interest) is the administrations growing involvement in the game's rules and how it is officiated.
Nailed it.

It all began when Gould and co. were given carte blanche on Ch9. As the Qld dynasty began to grow in origin the concerted effort by the Blues admin/coaching staff to try and gain any sort of advantage to catch up with Qld. led to them virtually deciding how the game should be officiated.

Origin, which was for so long the jewel in rugby league's crown is largely responsible for where we are now. When Qld retained the shield because the serious was drawn it was the catalyst for the golden point FG. After that the flood gates opened.

The Daily Telegraph proclaiming " Hynes Heist: How Broncos bungled dream halves combo" so it must be true the Broncos stuffed up again!

here is what DD said:

“On a personal level I’m really happy for Nicho, he has worked really hard on his game and life and is getting what he deserves,” he said.

“He is a great young man and player and is bucking the trend of players who have left Melbourne (and struggled). He has taken his game to an even greater height. I’m really proud of how he has gone about it.

“We understood family is really important to him and where he wanted to base himself. We couldn’t compete with that.

“We put forward to his agent an offer that was very close to what he was asking for.
We didn’t low-ball him from that point of view.

“We didn’t get to the negotiating table because he wanted to be closer to his family on the Central Coast.”

Kevvie Says

“We had a chat with Nicho, he was available and a few clubs were chasing him. I think there were five or six clubs who were chasing his signature,” he said.

“I was looking at him as a fullback or a six to potentially play with ‘Reyno’ if they both came, but once it didn’t happen, we moved on and we were fortunate enough to secure ‘Reyno’.

“We have no hard feelings towards his decision and we respect that. I wish him all the best, but hopefully he doesn’t do too well this week.

“We’re wary of Hynes. He is a quality player, but we’re very happy with where Adam is as well, so it should be a cracking contest between the halves.

“I’m confident Adam can win the battle of the halves.”

Hynes agent, Andrew Purcell, said

“Brisbane were part of the negotiations and Nicho gave serious thought to joining the Broncos,” he said.

“They are a huge club and would be attractive to any player. Ultimately, Cronulla ended up getting their man through Nicho’s conversations with Fitzgibbon and offering a package that was more in line with the role he was going to play at the Sharks.

“Fitzgibbon was confident in his ability to play the type of role after holding several meetings with him throughout the negotiation process.”

This is what the NSW Premier said about the GF leaving Sydney:

“As Peter knows all too well, we have invested record amounts in stadiums and sporting infrastructure.

“He also knows that having the grand final in Queensland is a bad outcome for the NRL, for every club and most importantly the fans. So he’s not taking it anywhere.”
More quotes from the NSW Prem: “I have been working with Peter [V’landys], and I understand his issues. But let’s be fair dinkum here, the grand final is not going to Queensland. No one wants the grand final in Queensland,” he said, adding that Queensland was “second rate” to NSW.

What a flog ****.

As a politician he chooses his words very haphazardly. Typical parochial, narrow-minded cockroach that lives, sleeps and dreams xenophobia. Having said that , I think these traits are mandatory for LNP candidates.

You sure he isn't actually working for the NRL?

Gould telling Barrett to go and stand on the sideline while he took the training session.

Could you imagine WB/Bellyache/Robinson/Hasler/Arthurs etc. being told to go and stand on the sideline?

Someone tell Flegler this is how you pull off a crusher without being penalised.

I know it’s early days but the media made such a huge big hoo ha when druggy Johns was announced as being part of the Newcastle coaching staff For season 2022.

They’re currently sitting at the bottom of the ladder. Wonder if he’ll wear the same level as criticism?

Have Newcastle fans pleaded for a Milford SoS yet? Good luck.
