Yep, we paid Lodge out. Not sure about Pangai.
Pangai's contract was up at the end of this year... but I'm not totally convinced we're paying anything for him as he signed for a bigger deal when joining dogs.

Something like $750k for dogs vs $650k or so that he was on with us... so if he's getting paid more than his previous contract why would we be subsidizing anything.

Because we are the nice guys of league. We give things away and expect nothing back.

No one knows. He was originally signed until the end of 2024, but there was articles that rumoured we paid him out (last year) in exchange for him relinquishing his last two years.
Which would be consistent with him buying a house on the north shore in Sydney.

The Daily Telegraph has a piece by Rothfield with the opening remarks "Channel 9’s TV ratings for rugby league are down by an alarming figure this season". It's behind a paywall so not too sure what his reasoning is, but whatever it is I bet it does not include disgruntled supporters totally over the naked and total bias officials are showing towards selected teams.

Yesterday's Canberra game was evens stevens for the first 5 or 6 sets with Canberra sticking with Penrith, then out of nowhere Penrith get penalty after penalty, after 6 again to march them down field and allow them to camp on Canberra's line until they scored.

The bunker's decision that deemed Horsborough had stripped the ball when the replays clearly show he never even touched the ball was enough for me to switch it off. There is clear manipulation of the games here. Penrith ended up 9-1 on the penalty count according to Ricky Stuart.

The Dogs going from 17 penalties last week to something like 7 against us this week was also 'miraculous'.

The betting agencies have far too much money invested in our game and having one of their own in V'landy running the show - it is so obvious our beautiful game is being openly sodomized by a small cartel who are hell bent on extracting the maximum amount of cash from our game and to hell with how the game ends up.

But yeh folks, I almost forgot "Gamble responsibly" -GET FUCKED!!!!!

I'm with you @Jedhead I've been following the game since 92 and can't ever imagine not following the Broncos but I am now down to just watching 1 game per week. Full credit to those who can stomach watching more than that.
I know some will disagree but I think the game has been in decline since it lost Gallop as CEO. Maybe it started under him I don't recall, but I do believe every CEO since has been progressively worse. Until now, when we find ourselves with a voiceless CEO and Chairman who thinks he is the CEO.
I told my 22yo son who is a massive fan of the game last week that PVL isn't the CEO and he was shocked, thought I was joking LOL

The only way anything will change is people leaving the game sadly and I suspect this is happening. I've been watching more Super League than NRL and even then, the introduction of six again over there has really bought the quality down as well.

Down 12% for ch9.

His reasons
No lockdown
Phil Gould commentating Bulldogs games... Lol
Dumping Andrew Johns
And their prime time selections

His employer, Fox, have been outstanding according to him but no mention of their ratings.

The talking heads should all be running scared because if league dies, so do their jobs. Not that it'll happen in Slothfield's lifetime.

Hetherington - 5 weeks and now in the ref's tipping sheet for ever.
Tupou - play on.

Roosters not a protected species though. Right.
Not a single person with a voice has said a word about Flegler though. It's all Hetherington and Radley, who are both actual dirty players who hot people illegally.

True that. Dya think it's because they can't actually find an apt example of Flegs? I mean 95% of what he's been pinged for goes off unnoticed every game with 'other' teams. Of course JWH's hip drop was accidental. Barely a word about that either as it was Su's he has taken out of the game. If that was Flegs on Radley and Victor was out fro a number of weeks there would be such a concerted witch hunt to rub Flegs out of the game for ever. It's such juvenile behaviour from the Sydney hacks, but thems the breaks in a NSWRL dominated comp.

Ch 9's twitter account (anonymous) reporting on the Broncos' come from behind win against the Dogs "the greatest comeback since Darren Lockyer's hair".

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, and in this instance the disrespect shown to an ex-Australian captain and future immortal is fairly juvenile. All for a few sniggers and a snide dig at a Queensland legend. Well done Ch 9. Truly a NATIONAL broadcaster.

Vlandy having an "emergency meeting" with the NSW premier to head off a Brisbane Grand Final. Again, juvenile narrow-minded thinking.

Who cares if it helps grow the game and brings more money into the ARL coffers? All Vlandy cares about is the self-interested parties of NSWRL.

A great week for our NATIONAL competition.

And perhaps another reason why their viewing figures are down 12%.

This is what the NSW Premier said about the GF leaving Sydney:

“As Peter knows all too well, we have invested record amounts in stadiums and sporting infrastructure.

“He also knows that having the grand final in Queensland is a bad outcome for the NRL, for every club and most importantly the fans. So he’s not taking it anywhere.”

Have a listen to him? It's as if the money was coming from his own piggy bank. It's the tax payers' money mate and this is not a graft and corruption matter. Just because the tax payers' money was spent on footy stadiums doesn't mean the ARL/NRL owes you a thing. The NSW govt. reneged on a promise to the NRL which would have secured the GF for Sydney for the next decade and so the game should be put out to tender and if there is extra money to be made we'd be down right stupid to pass it up.
