They have an extremely young team and the spine is really struggling at the moment.

Going to be hard for them to turn it around in the short term, because they've gone all in on Sexton, Brimson and Campbell... I think Fifita should be expecting a pay cut in his next contract negotiations as well... $750k seems closer to the mark.

I reckon titans would be keen to release Brimson.... I think he was signed to his long contract before Campbell emerged so they quite quickly ended up with two long term fullbacks and had to figure out how to fit them in.

Unfortunately for titans I don't think Brimson wants to leave. If I recall correctly he didn't really sign for a whole lot of money, but was still happen to go with 4-5yrs.

Tino as captain at 22 seems waaaay too quick, but they let their other captain option head to Canberra.
Like us a couple years back, they have neglected a leader in their spine, have bog average 9 options and heavily invested in their forward pack (fifita, tino and liu are on pretty big money) throwing their roster/cap out of whack.

Holbrook will be given a bit of wiggle room due to his success in the UK, I just had a look and he had an 80% win rate through 3 seasons

I don't know if he inherited a successful team or what not because obviously what he's dealing with at the Titans isn't working out

I’d happily take Brimson if they don’t want him.

As for Fifita, he’ll get 70”0 somewhere but if he was being paid based on performances, he’d be lucky to get 500k.

st Helens , the 2019 squad he won the championship was good and have gone onto win 3 in a row i think. funnily the coach who took over is Kristian Woolf who inherited a successful team , is a coach some members have been wanting here .

What did the tweet say? It won’t load for me.

“The Titans are cooked. There are deep seeded issues at this club. Forget going backwards. They are drowning.”

Anyone know what Garry is referring to? @The Don?

I see the Bennett effect is commencing in earnest at Souths. I think they are some risk of missing the 8 the way things are heading.

Surprisingly not. I am assuming it is mostly just about how our season seems to be going down the toilet rather than huge internal issues. I know for certain internally there was definitely a microscope placed on the defensive coaching this week so pressure only going to increase there on the coaching staff.

I heard from the owners in the off season that we wanted to keep Fogarty but didn't have much choice but to release him in the end. I feel bad for Tino, he legitimately looked broken at the start of that press conference last night and even in the last few weeks in general.

He isn’t wrong. Whoever was responsible for signing Fifita for the amount they did needs to go. It was all about sticking it to the Broncos and nothing to do with what is best for the team. What is inexcusable in this is that we showed exactly what happens when you spend all of your money on the forwards and neglect the spine and we are still paying for that. They got to see that in all it’s disastrous glory and still said “yep, let’s do that”.

If it was all Meninga he needs to go. If Holbrook didn’t put up a massive fight to it he needs to go.

They deserve everything they get and **** them.

what makes it a worse decision is that we tapped out at 800k ... they kept bidding against themselves, as there were no other bidders

As long as FiFi gets to play comfortable footy, that is all that matters.

Yep, the most ridiculous negotiation in the history of rugby league. 1.25m/1.1m/1.1m contract for a low workrate X factor backrower but was hailed by the media far and wide as a genius victory.

Don't get me wrong, I actually rate Fifita very very highly but he's a 700-800k backrower, he won't carry a team, he needs to be carried then he can be the difference in tight games.

I imagine it was because he knocked them back at 1m, probably was going to take unders of 800k to stay in Brisbane, they needed the extra to lure him.

He was at one of the biggest, most well resourced teams in England where everything was in place for him. Holbrook had a very good squad to work with that just needed a few tweaks rather than building from the ground up like he has to do with the Titans.

When does Lodge and TPGs salary top up finish for us?

No one knows. He was originally signed until the end of 2024, but there was articles that rumoured we paid him out (last year) in exchange for him relinquishing his last two years.

Yep, we paid Lodge out. Not sure about Pangai.
