Also survey done by who? If it was the players union then isn’t it their job to try and bump up what the players get?

Done by the RLPA who are trying to get the minimum wage for all top 30 players increased to 150k so not exactly the most unbiased source.

Just highlights the problem of not living within your means.

Which if the salary cap goes up, it makes sense to raise the minimum wage too.

On the point, what is the salary cap for next year? Do we know yet?

Would love to actually know what their definition of financial hardship is………”my teammate on a mil a year can buy a sweet as mansion in one upfront payment but it’s gonna take me at least 5 years to pay off my home loan…..I must be poor”

come on mate, this is the NRL (and RLPA) we're talking about here ... so I think you already know the answer to that question 😝

$10.4 million in 2023 and increased $400,000 per year for the remainder of the deal.

Cap will by $12.4 million by the end of it. It hasn't been signed yet, but that's what it's going to be.

The only team that is benefitted by delaying the salary cap announcement is the Dolphins.

They're the only team sitting around with a shit ton of cash, and a whole bunch of players are about to become free agents for 2024 in a couple days.

Hard for existing teams to re-sign players without knowing what they're limit is going to be and how it fits around their current deals.

Also smart for players to wait it out, because everyone knows it's going up. If they sign now they could be under selling themselves.

Meanwhile redcliffe have a ton of cap space to use and can throw ridiculous money around regardless of the cap.

Maybe NSWRL are trying to help them out after all

Well it also benefits the Roosters too because they can just say, oh yeah we signed Crichton and Lodge on upgraded deals in the expectation the salary cap would go up, etc.

Doesn't matter about Lodge... he's happy to sign for a pie and coke apparently. You know his current valuation in the eyes of the NSWRL salary cap auditors

Of course.

Still, I'd like to know what suddenly changed to not only allow the Roosters to actually register Crichton but also add Paulo too. Turpin I can understand because he would be minimum wage but given they could not register Crichton for ages, what changed?

This is where the salary cap auditor needs to be transparent.

They got rid of Naiqama.

Not long after Crichton confirmed he's going to be re-signing with the Roosters now that they freed up cap space.

So Naiqama, who would likely be on minimum or close to wage allowed them to lodge Crichton's contract AND sign Paulo AND replace his minimum wage contract with Turpin's minimum wage contract?

seems legit GIF

turns out FIFA is more powerful than Politis.

it's being reported that Politis is resigned to having to remove the "home of the Sydney Roosters" sign from Allianz during the FIFA Women's World Cup

Apparently FIFA agreed to take several Roosters out for a game of golf.

Craig Young has been forced to stand down from the Dragons board over his decision to use club letterhead to write a character reference for Brett Finch.

Fox Sports also reporting that Young was already scheduled to finish up as chairman as part of a “rotation cycle”

It may have happened in the past but I've never heard of any "professional" organisation that has a "rotation cycle" for chairman of the board.
