So is the ban for his history, repeated infringements in that game or brushing the ref?

I think with this Cap increase New Zealand Rugby will be getting worried, sooner or later NRL is going to start pillaging players from there, rather then just the youth players they are doing now.

I don't think Rugby in NZ are going to be worried about the NRL anytime soon. In fact, I think it's the opposite.

NZ is still very much a Rugby nation and they still have plenty of cash to throw around.

The interest in the game will definitely stay that way, but the players themselves may be tempted when they can earn over 3 times more(if they want to stay in the Southern Hemisphere).

RTS for example is the highest paid player in NZ super Rugby on 400K NZ with 3rd parties he took a massive pay cut to do it and that wage is around what some bench players get now before the new pay rise.

NZ doesn't have the economy to Compete.

courier mail put out there coach safety rankings hard to take it serious with o'brien holbrook and griffin ahead of walters imo those 3 would be my pick for most likely to get the arse if there teams arnt performing.

Well you have your big 4. O'Brien, Holbrook, Walters, Griffin... Every coach outside that group would be a long shot. But within that group of 4... tough to make a call on a favourite, would think Griffin & O'Brien would be first picks with Walters and Holbrook not far behind. Tough market to pick.

Walters could also be the first to get an extension if the Broncs have a strong start, so will be interesting to follow.

Holbrook is my favourite, Titans have gone backwards since they bought Fifita and Tino and if you remember the year before that they actually finished the season quite strongly, didn't make the 8 that year but all the signs were suggesting they'd be a better team again with a few key forwards.

They did make the 8 in 2021 but that was after having lost more than they won and then obviously in 2022 they didn't have a good season, it's his 4th year at the club in 2023. I think he could be looking down the barrel if they don't get off to a good start, O'Brien is the other one who could be in trouble.

Walters and Griffin are safe for mine, safe enough to see out the season.

It's the battle of the hypocrites

I wish this guy would just shut up, he makes himself look like even more of an out of touch moron every time he speaks.

Vlandys should be worrying about his own backyard before taking jabs at a rival code. for example, actually start negotiating with the players to get the CBA locked down before it affects the season

It was alluded to on the radio that the sticking point is in regards to the entitlements & support for retired and injured players. I'd like to know the specifics, but at least it's a more admirable cause than "moar money". So I'm swinging closer to "**** the NRL". It may well be that the $ figures the NRL threw out are indeed agreed upon by both parties, so they aren't technically telling porkies, but until the entire deal is agreed to, those figures may change. Eg, the NRL say "if you want $X put aside for support & entitlements for retired players, then that comes out of the money that was designated for the players" etc.

Think the sticking point is the rlpa want sole control over the funds for retired player support but the nrl want joint control or something like that

That sounds like a negotiation ... although it's a bit hard for that to happen when the NRL are ignoring the other party
