I can't believe there was so much talk about it.
He flat out said when it all began that he was not taking the job.
I think it was because of an article quoting him as saying he wanted the job.

Why wouldn't the Titans want him though?
Being rejected by the Titans would be a pretty low point in his career.. Why would he even show his face again?I wonder if the Titans told him he wasn't going to get the job and they've allowed him to save face rather than look like he was rejected.

Or maybe he just actually never wanted the job and never applied for it.Green beat Brad Arthur, Trent Barrett and Walters to the Cowboys gig. Both those other guys are now head coaches. The QRL originally preferred Green to Walters for Qld. Maybe he just doesn't present well in interview situations.
His commentary can be incoherent at times on Fox Sports.
I saw him pretty much respond "LOL! No!" when they asked him if he wanted the gig.Or maybe he just actually never wanted the job and never applied for it.
I don't recall him ever saying he was interested in the job ... it was all just media speculation.
FED-UP Melbourne skipper Cameron Smith has hit out at critics of Melbourne’s playing style as Queensland legend Gorden Tallis accused NRL rivals of being “jealous” of the Storm’s success.
Smith admits he is sick and tired of entering finals campaigns with a dark cloud of suspicion hovering over Melbourne’s tactics — 14 years after the Storm were first embroiled in the grapple-tackle saga.
In a spicy prelude to the Storm-Eels qualifying final this Saturday night, Parramatta coach Brad Arthur, a former Melbourne employee, suggested Craig Bellamy’s troops would attempt smothering tactics during the finals.
Arthur’s sentiments triggered a stinging riposte from Bellamy, who vowed to contact NRL referees boss Tony Archer, claiming Parramatta were more culpable of WrestleMania-style techniques to slow the play-the-ball.
Criticism of the Storm has lingered since their last premiership win in 2012, when they were accused of stifling tactics at the ruck, and Smith is miffed by suggestions Melbourne use underhanded methods in the pursuit of title glory.
“We’re a bit frustrated because every finals series we enter into, there’s always something said about the way we play,” Smith said.
“Craig (Bellamy) looks at vision of all teams throughout the NRL, although I don’t look at it as much as he does.
“I was away on Origin duty when we played Parramatta so I haven’t done a lot of preparation on them but if Craig makes those comments (about the Eels’ wrestling tactics), I dare say he wouldn’t be too far off the mark.
“What is it they say (of Melbourne’s repeated criticism) — the same song, but a different singer?
“Craig is pretty much on the mark there I reckon.”
In an intriguing twist to the Eels-Storm clash, former Melbourne player Brett O’Farrell is now on Arthur’s staff at Parramatta, hired as a “contact specialist”.
It was O’Farrell who sensationally lifted the lid on Melbourne’s training drills in 2008, claiming they deliberately worked on the grapple tackle — an allegation Bellamy vehemently denied.
O’Farrell is now black-listed from the Storm’s Old Boys club.
This season, the Storm have the best attack in the league, scoring a whopping 633 points, prompting former Broncos skipper Tallis to launch a passionate defence of the minor premiers.
“The others are just jealous,” Tallis said.
“It’s the old chestnut, when sides get beaten it (criticising the Storm) takes pressure off them not being able to break Melbourne down.
“Every side in the NRL wrestles. Some sides are worse than Melbourne at hanging in the ruck and lying in there. I won’t name names, but it’s part of the game.
“No one talks about Melbourne’s attack and the brilliant tries they score.
“When you watch them, as soon as they are in the tackles ... Cam Smith goes in there for a split second and the refs are yelling out his name. They don’t yell out anyone else’s name.
“The Storm are unfairly treated when it comes to the wrestle.”
