And now shit like this:

"The NRL has launched a review into the controversial betting partnership rules that have resulted in greats of the game being banned.

The rules excluding figures within the game from holding positions in the NRL while also having a link with any form of gambling have been widely debated since it was first revealed Raiders legend Laurie Daley was banned from joining Manly’s coaching staff.

The Sea Eagles were in December hoping to employ Daley in a coaching consultancy role to work with playmaker Josh Schuster, who has since struggled to find form in 2023.

But the governing body rejected the club’s official submission because Daley’s job as a co-host on Sky Sports Radio’s Big Sports Breakfast — which is owned by TAB — is a conflict of interest
.

Weidler said the NRL’s rulings had cost Daley positions on the Sea Eagles and Wests Tigers coaching staff — jobs that would have been worth “hundreds of thousands” of dollars.

It was revealed last month Wests Tigers great Robbie Farah was also forced to walk away from a lucrative partnership with a start-up wagering agency because of his position as an assistant coach at the Wests Tigers
."

So the NRL are going to walk back rules around people involved intimately in the game, also being intimately involved with betting agencies, because it's "forcing" them to quit their footy roles?

****. OFF.

No-one is forcing them to do anything, they have a choice. If they want to be involved in footy, then quit the other fucking jobs. If they want the other jobs, then step away from footy while you're there. How is this even a fucking issue, let alone one big enough for the NRL to water down the rules?? Talk about bringing the game into disrepute, FMD. It's a fucking viper's den of corruption.
It's all about gauging how far they can push it before people leave. As it stands, it has its hooks deep and people are willing to make excuses. Myself included.

I'm glad you shared it, saw it got pissed off but couldn't be bothered.

Poor Laurie doesn't make enough earning a dirty buck. My heart bleeds for him.

Vlandys corruption will slowly rot this game. Good short team financial boost, the ramifications he won't be around for.

Remember all the ***** that wanted Gallop gone and then Greenburg? Be careful what you wish for.
I always thought Gallop did OK

In hindsight, he was better than OK

How on earth do they keep finding guys worse than the last guy?

And just when you think it's impossible, they unearth Lord VLando FMD

What's worse is PVL isn't even the CEO but he has installed himself as that

He is without doubt the worst thing to happen our game in the 30 years I've been following it

I like Gallop because he fucking hated Storm, he stripped their premierships before the salary cap investigation was complete even without Board approval and then the next year when he was at the presentation for the minor premiership their fans booed him and he called Melbourne fans terrorists lmao.

It was a question about a petition from fans to have off-contract Griffin axed immediately after five straight losses that got Bird going on Wednesday.

“Fans don’t really know too much about footy, I don’t think. They’ve got a lot to say,” Bird said ahead of Saturday’s away NRL clash with North Queensland. “I don’t think they have ever played a game of footy. I am just speaking from first-hand stuff I have been copping.

“I feel sorry for Hook (Griffin). It is us (players) out there playing, so we should be the ones (fans) are baying for.” “People don’t know what people are going through these days. Hook could be struggling, or any player could be struggling outside of footy, and the people come on social media and give you a gobful,” he said.

“That might be the part where they push you over the edge. That’s fans for you. They are passionate and they want us to win games, so I understand where they are coming from.” “I signed last year here for another two years and at the moment I am staying here,” he said. “My future is tied here.”

“I don’t think any other clubs are in a financial situation to sign anyone at the moment. I am not too sure,” he said “Like I said, my future is at the club. I have got another two years here, and I am willing to turn things around here. That’s what I want to do. I want to start winning games, and that’s going to be here.”

“If we won the last five weeks, Hook’s not in question for his job,” he said.

“It is on us, really. It is not on him. If we win games, coaches don’t get sacked. “He is not the one out there playing. It is us. It will be good to get a win for him, that’s for sure, before we get to Sydney. I can’t really speak too much on that (coaching future) kind of stuff because I don’t know what is going on behind the scenes.”

Dave Smith was so far ahead of all our past, and definitely current, administrators it is embarrassing.

He identified the main problem for the nrl was a lack of diversity on every level. He built up the digital media, he tried to open up the rights to a variety of media options (eg netflix, optus, self developed streaming service), built uo the women's game and 9s, was the 1st one to talk expansion, and tried to push the international game.

The problem for him was he didn't anticipate the gullibility of the nrl fans with fox heavily pushing an agenda to get him out as he was trying to get power from them

Business blames customer not product for poor sales, is essentially how it reads to me.
