NRL Grand Final - Sydney Roosters vs. Manly Warringah Sea Eagles

Should be a great game though .... both teams play such a similar style of game.

Their matchup earlier in the finals was an awesome game !

Roosters are my tip, but not by many.

Any chance of a happy ending evaporated as soon as Souths were eliminated. At least their story holds more weight than...

What story? Booted from the comp, forced back in when they clearly shouldn't have been. Used underhanded tactics to poach players who committed elsewhere (Inglis) and after 10yrs of trying still choke when it matters. I think it's time the NRL found a new 'pride of the league' it's pretty poor when the so called pride can't win the big games.

Roosters, best team all season who have kept teams scoreless when it matters. Finished the season on the top of the table and then went on to win their first final in one of the all time great matches against Manly before then taking the cleaners to a Knights team riding high on emotion and being coached by a 'legend' of the game. Roosters winning it will mean the best team this season has got the job done and their halves have finally found their big game play.

Best team of the season will be the team who wins the grand final. In this case Manly for mine.

Are people honestly comparing Pearce + Maloney to DCE + Foran? Seriously?

Assuming Manly play their natural game i.e. 2nd half v Souths, their halves and outside backs will run the Roosters off the park and while I like Mini, B.Stewart, as much as I dislike him, is a weapon the Roosters lack big time.

For mine, the only reason the chooks won last time was no Stewart and Manly had yet to hit their straps.

Yes , lots of long term injuries. Except the cherry of course.

Hopefully Manly flog them. I won't be able to stand Maloney, JWH, Pearce and SBW holding up the trophy and the media wankfest that follows.

Should be a cracking game.

I'm not going to stand up for Souths anymore than I have to. However, Souths winning for the first time since 1971 would have instantly made this season stand out more than if Sydney or Manly won. Do you honestly think this year is going to stand out on it's own when both clubs have been heavily involved in the grand final, going back 14 years?

Regardless of what happens, this season is going to stand out for the ASADA issues before anything else. This is where fingers crossed Manly/Roosters will deliver us another blockbuster game in the grand final that will at least give the core fans something classic to watch. I'm not big on supporting clubs just because they haven't been successful in 40+yrs, it's this crap about 'pride of the league' and holding onto silly Sydney centric traditions that holds the game back. Sydney Vs Manly is imo the best result from a quality perspective that we could have asked for in a grand final.

I think this season will stand out for whatever reason you want it to. There always seem to be a group of fans who want to insist that the game has been smeared, whether it is by refereeing errors, off-field controversies or this ASADA nonsense. but that doesn't mean the year can't be remembered for all the good football that was played.

if Manly and Sydney put on another show like they did 2 weeks ago then I think you'd be a pretty blackhearted rugby league fan to say that the season stood out for a PED saga. I watch rugby league for the thrill of it, not the politics or the soap-opera shit that the media love to talk about. A great game this week will be a great wrap up to the season and that is what the NRL should really be about

That's pretty much the only hope this match has of sticking out. If it goes the way of other grand finals, it will be like any other game and easily forgotten about in a year or two.

I suspect this Souths unit will win a premiership in the not so distant future so I'd much rather they had have gotten it out of the way now rather than later. It's spilt milk now obviously but really whoever wins out of these two teams really offers up little as a neutral fan.

Manly are very experienced in finals and other big games compared to the Roosters but the Roosters especially Maloney love playing In big games like this so that will make up for it. The Roosters are playing like a premiership team and their performances this year speak for themselves.

I think FPN will be the player at risk of being dropped. I think the Roosters best backrow now would be SBW, Guerra and Cordner starting with Aubusson on the bench.

I'd probably be happier with manly winning. As much as that pains me to say, there's just really nothing I hate about them these days other than the fact they're manly. Oh and watamong. I'd like to see cherry Evans get another premiership, ballin too. Jamie Lyon is also just a pleasure to watch when he's on song. Don't think I've ever seen a better centre then him in terms of beating his man and setting up his winger.

That pretty much sums it for me too, I've always hated Manly but I just have to admire this squad for their toughness and will to win.
Lyon is just all class and does nearly everything right in the big moments. He even went into the finals with one of the worst goalkicking percentages out of the finals teams and nailed everything that mattered from the sideline which made a huge difference both to Manly and Souths.

Cherry Evans is clearly the NO. 1 half in the game right now and is such a natural footballer.

Nope Foran is clearly years ahead of DCE and if it came down to picking between them you'd do better to stick with Foran and let DCE go........

*Incase Manly read this.

Hate them both. Cutters won. Season over.

Taumalolo had a blinder, signed to the Cows until next year I think but he's on the outer for poor discipline - nothing major, just lax at training apparently. We should get on to his manager, he'd improve our bench immensely and he's only young.
