NRL Grand Final - Sydney Roosters vs. Manly Warringah Sea Eagles

[h=1]Richie Fa'aoso's career in jeopardy after breaking neck against Souths[/h]Adrian Proszenko

Richie Fa'aoso's career could be over after the Manly forward suffered a broken neck in Friday night's win over South Sydney.
Fa'aoso's dreams of playing in back-to-back grand finals is over after scans revealed a neck fracture. Further tests will be conducted to determine the full extent of the injury.
The Sea Eagles prop was stretchered from the field in a neck brace on Friday and taken to hospital after a heavily collision while charging towards the tryline.
One of the game's great journeyman, Fa'aoso finally tasted premiership success with Melbourne last year following stints at the Eels, Roosters, Panthers, Raiders and Knights. The Tongan international was initially hopeful of another premiership ring with Manly but the injury is more serious than first thought.
The 29 year old has told those close to him that he hasn't given up on playing again, although any comeback would depend on further tests.
A source close to Fa'aoso said: "He's in pretty good spirits considering. If anyone can fight back from this it's Richie. We've seen Sam McKendry come back for Penrith from a broken neck this year and I wouldn't bet against him doing something similar."
Fa'aoso, who has suffered a series of concussions and head knocks in recent seasons, is contracted to the Sea Eagles for a further season.
Forwards James Hasson and David Gower, named on an extended Sea Eagles bench for the Rabbitohs clash, will come into contention as replacements.

Nope Foran is clearly years ahead of DCE and if it came down to picking between them you'd do better to stick with Foran and let DCE go........

*Incase Manly read this.

Not a shit show is Foran way ahead as a player and just to be more clear I was referring to halfback, we used to differentiate by calling them 5/8 and half you know sonny. :D

Oh, just read the fine print:tongue_smilie:

What does everyone think of Mitchell Pearce as a player? I don't think he is a bad player by any means. He has a very good defensive and kicking game with very capable game-reading ability. I've seen him play some great games for the Roosters this year and in the past. I think he is a very good club player but can't lift his game to the next level.

That's pretty much it. We'll have to see on Sunday if he can actually show up in a big close game. He's a hopeless Origin player though.

The new ticket prices look like they are very unpopular. I just checked on Ticketek and you can still get seats on halfway at the back of the first section (108-1 $345) . Pretty much the best public tickets you can get.
I've been to the last 2 GFs and no way could I get these seats, even from 6 weeks out, except to pay scalpers up to $800.

Looks like the NRL has put the scalpers out of business too. Usually there is pages and pages of tickets on ebay but this year hardly anything. One brave soul has 8 x $165 tickets to sell for $299 each, I'd say he will be using them himself.

The crowd will be interesting, it could be a 3/4 full stadium.

Oh wow, just put in for 10 tickets to see what happens and I can get easily 10seats all next to each other still.

I watched the 2002 Grand Final last night (last Roosters premiership win) and I agree with Brad Fittler that this Roosters team is more talented than 2002. This team is a lot more fitter and creative and possesses more skill and a more mobile and attacking forward pack.

The Grand-Final is a very tough encounter despite the final score being 30-8. The first-half is a very testing and tough affair with the Roosters leading 6-2 at halftime despite being on top for most of the 1st half with handling mistakes and desperate Warriors defense keeping Easts at bay. The only try is scored in the 23rd minute after a strong charge from Fittler the Roosters spread the ball to Fletcher who draws the defense and hands the ball to Brett Mullins who streaks down the sideline and passes to an unmarked Shannon Hegarty who runs untouched to the line.

A brilliant individual try by Stacey Jones and the conversion by Cleary puts the Warriors up 5 minutes after the break but it's short lived after a 40/20 by Fittler puts the Roosters on the attack and Fittler sends Wing over in the ensuring set and the Roosters take the lead back. The game's defining moment occurs when Fittler is knocked over when attempting a clearing kick and headbutted unnecessarily by Villiasanti. The incident fires the Roosters and Fittler up as they control the reminder of the game and Fitzgibbon, Flannery and Fletcher add their names to the scoring list and the Roosters win by 30-8.

Fitzgibbon receives the Clive-Churchill medal but I would've given in to Fittler as his leadership after being knocked aggresively was inspirational to the Roosters win and his attacking game and defense in the second-half was world class. Pretty unfair score on the Warriors considering how competitive they were for most of the game and how tough the games was.

Roosters 2002 Grand Final team

1: Luke Phillips
2: Brett Mullins
3: Shannon Hegarty
4: Justin Hodges
5: Anthony Minichiello
6: Brad Fittler (Captain)
7: Craig Wing
8: Jason Cayless
9: Simon Bonetti
10: Peter Cusack
11: Adrian Morely
12: Craig Fitzgibbon
13: Luke Ricketson

14: Chris Flannery
15: Bryan Fletcher
16: Michael Crocker
17: Andrew Lomu

Coach: Ricky Stuart

Stacey Jones's awesome try

I was pretty hyped for the 02 GF. Roosters were one of my favourite Sydney teams and despite beating us the week before I wanted Freddy (who was one of my favourite non-Broncos) to win a premiership. The match itself took an age to get going and then it just boiled down to a one sided affar. I was happy with the result but the match itself was pretty forgettable.

Also one picture which pretty much sums up why I don't care for Manly...

What time does the game kick-off tomorrow here in QLD? because NSW is about to switch to daylight saving I heard.

Has any team ever beaten another team 4 times in a season?

I don't get it ... you don't like Stewart? or Gallop? or both? or you don't like the fact that Gallop crucified Stewart without evidence and then they shook hands on a podium anyway?

I can't believe Stewart took what should have been a proud team moment to further his personal agenda with Gallop. Manly are a bitter club who can never accept personal responsibility for their own messes and despite receiving all sorts of breaks are always going to make a heap of noise whenever they've been slightly affected.

Stewart was lucky to even play that afternoon. How his king hit on Blair was given such a weak punishment does my head in.

Game day Go you Mighty Roosters

Easts to win!!!!!

I reckon the scum is gonna put a score on the chooks today...
