Austin at his best is a real quality player. He needs a real halfback to really shine though (and a good pack), and those are expensive enough too.

Blake Austin reporterdly knocked back a 3 year deal worth 800k a year from the Raiders because he thought he was worth more.

The bloke is an idiot.

He's off to England according to reports today.

Eels co-captain Tim Mannah has applauded off-contract centre Jarryd Hayne for helping turn around the the club’s culture and now wants to see him re-commit to Parramatta.

Mannah says the former San Francisco 49ers’ impact off the field has been profound, despite the team struggling at the bottom of the ladder this season.

Ryan Hall to replace Ferguson at the Roosters according to da Mole.

I was always taught defence was 50% of the game.
He is the second worst reader of defence in the game next to Nightingale. He is a big skillful guy so it's hard to understand how he is so bad at D.

Roosters 'fans' when they had Fergo on the books: "we got him on the cheap because the NRL somehow let us sign a bloke with a dubious off field record whilst denying other clubs the same opportunity! We took a risk and it paid off, get over it!" Rooster 'fans' today: "Lol of course we can afford Ryan Hall and Cleary, we are getting rid of an Aus winger! Cronk is retiring! What do you mean we just signed Crichton on big bucks and upgraded half our team? You're a hater!"

Roosters 'fans' when we upgrade our jrs: "OMG HOW CAN THE BRONX AFFORD ALL THESE BLOKES? THERE NEEDS TO BE AN INVESTIGATION! [HASHTAG]#penaltybroncos[/HASHTAG]!"

Stop picking on Nightingale. Throw any specialist winger in the back row due to losing the rest of your bench and of course they’ll be exposed.

Roosters chase Broncos star

The Sydney Roosters are preparing an ambush to sign highly-rated Brisbane prop Tevita Pangai Junior.

The 22-year-old is off contract and has yet to re-sign with the Broncos.

A Tongan international, he played his junior football at the Knights, who are keen to lure him home.
But the Roosters have more financial clout and influence and coach Trent Robinson is desperate to add the giant forward to his arsenal in 2019.

Pangai’s asking price is at least $600,000 - out of the ball park of most NRL clubs.

But with the Roosters’ ability to attract third party sponsors, they will find room in the salary cap for the Broncos star.
It appears only Wayne Bennett’s influence can stop the deal from happening at this stage.

Bennett has talked many a player into taking a pay cut to remain at the Broncos down the years - and will be doing his best to do so again.

Bunnies' star's deal collapses

South Sydney’s deal with promising Broncos back-rower Jaydn Su'a has fallen over.
The Rabbitohs were confident it was all but a done deal a couple of months back and had virtually penciled Su’a into their roster.

But some last-minute hitches resulted in the deal collapsing and Su’a remains on the open market.

That would be a good reason but he was playing left centre and stinking it up.

How do they attract third party sponsors when they can barely rustle up a crowd of 10k in most games.

Mates of Politis who in no way have any affiliation with the Roosters and who definitely don't sponsor players just because they play for the Roosters, and who chose to sponsor said players without any involvement from Politis. Obviously.

Ryan Hall officially signed by the Sydney City Dollars...I mean...Roosters.

"Ryan just wanted to test his worth in the toughest League competition in the world, the NSww....I mean the NRL"
"Yeah that's great, how did you guys afford him? I mean that's a pretty stacked roster"
"Well we signed him to a base salary becau........"
"He's played international football Trent!!!"
"Yeah.....for England mate.....C'mon. Anyway, so yeah we signed him up on a base salary. Our next target is TPJ"
"How are you going to manage that? You aren't getting him on a base salary...."
"Well we just released Blake Ferguson who was an Origin and International rep. Plus we've still got a little money left over from when Mini retired."

So on and so forth.

"But you do know some will honestly wonder how you can afford ANOTHER big name player with Crichto..." (Gets cut off)

"Shut it, we're hoping everyone forgot about that, good thing you forgot the NSW origin captain Re-signining" (Chuckles then realises what he said)

"Seriously, the auditor must be knocking on your door, I'd be careful"

(Quickly signals to other Rooster official and whispers) "Get the book, quick the book...make sure it's labelled 'public'"

"What was that about?"

"Let me prove how we can afford it to you, simply good recruitment and reten...(Quickly thinks to himself - 'oh yeah, we don't do that part')...so simply good recruitment decisions"
