I laughed when I read that this morning. I don't really rate Austin that highly, I think he's just had a couple of very good games but has benefited from some very bad defence. No doubt Ricky has enticed him with a massive contract and in his head thinks he'll be the Next Big Thing.

Blake Austin would be a good pickup for the Raiders considering their recruitment dramas this year. Not an elite player but he will improve their squad, and culture wise he will be really good. He is a top bloke off the field.

He's probably an upgrade to McCrone. Cornish/Austin will probably be a better place to start than McCrone/Campese.

I'm a fan of Austin and like the way he plays the game but he's a case of being a jack of all trades, a master of none.

An Austin/Cornish halves pairing doesn't do a lot for me.

I'd prefer a Cornish/Williams pairing if anything.

Just based on what I've seen of Austin, I believe he's OK at playing what's infront of him but in terms of guiding the team around the park, I don't think he's the player you want and I believe the Raiders if anything need more direction.

Yeah agree with this.

For mine Austin is a backrower that can fill in at many spots, doesn't mean you should base one of your spine positions around him.

It would be like signing Greg Bird or Luke Lewis to take your vacant 5/8 spot
