I don’t think the lower offer was about not being able to afford it. I suspect they wanted to send a message to Munster after last season that this is what you’re worth at the moment to us. He’s responded and stayed off the drink and played better football. I think the offer then went back up to what they always budgeted. They re-signed the rest of the spine first right in his face.

Their offer came before the meeting of all the club chairpersons regarding the salary cap. Then increases after it when Munster rejects the offer.
But even then, the average salary of a top 5/8 is about 750k. Storm were just trying to get him for cheaper.

Danny Levi released from his contract with Huddersfield on compassionate grounds. Their managing director said it would have been "unfair" to keep him given "the circumstances that have now cropped up". Hopefully everything is alright.
