NRL Player Movements & Rumours

Very good points but it is also interesting to see what this means for Laurie. The same article suggests Brooks is on his way out and Laurie will go to 6, this really sounds pretty pointless to me. I'm not sure Laurie is a 6 and even more so, just don't see him and Doueihi gelling at all in the halves.
That seems to be a real theme in Rugby League, this idea that players can interchange between fullback and five-eighth. There's very few players who I've seen who can handle that transition - Lockyer, Munster, Inglis - and the last two have the Storm system in common. I've seen little to suggest Laurie would be nothing more than another Hoffman/Boyd type. At best he could do a 'job' but it's a stop-gap solution.

I'd suggest Laurie will be a free agent and if a club like the Bulldogs, Dragons, Dolphins etc. get desperate for a fullback they'll offer him a deal.

Doueihi/Hastings seems like the obvious halves pairing.

Apparently the Bulldogs already tried to get him but the Tigers said no.

Speaking of free agents, I saw Bennett criticise the current system. I actually like that when a team is in a bind they have that option of working with rival clubs and signing unwanted players. It's a win/win for everyone and gives players a point to prove in reggies if they're on the outer.

I have an issue when a desperate club can throw ridiculous money at a prospect a year out from their final year and suddenly the club who developed him are in the wrong for making them see out their deal. Wasn't fair on Canberra when Milford did it, wasn't fair on North Queensland when Ponga did it.

They could be waiting for the Staines signing to be official. I'd be shocked if Laurie remains a Tiger if Staines is retained at fullback for the first month of the competition.

Don't forget Burton and panthers holding onto him... Burton went on to win centre of the year.

It's a serious annoyance for me as well... the bloody media are the ones that push it constantly... the second a player signs one year out they start talking about what's the point of them staying at their current club.

Just look at Brimson for proof of your statement, he was non existent last year

After two release requests in the last month (the second coming just a week ago), Jayden Sullivan is the latest Dragons youngster to withdraw his request and vow to see out his contract.

apparently a meeting with club officials this morning convinced him to recommit to the Dragons.

I wonder whether they said, " hey kid, just stick it out a bit longer ... *wink* *wink*"

James Tamou has returned to the Cows on a one year deal.

Angus Crichton has re-signed with the Roosters finally.

Jake Turpin and Jaxson Paulo are also going there.

Did they release someone? I thought they couldn't register Crichton until they released someone as they'd be over the cap, but haven't been following closely enough.

Damn, was hoping Crichton would leave and weaken the Roosters. He is a beast and I think he's about to hit his prime and dominate.

I wonder how they will justify fitting in Fifita and Haas though in the next few months.

they don't even bother anymore ... they just wink before heading to the 19th hole

Signing Turpin is like negative gearing - deducts from their cap spending

So in a year where the Roosters signed two of the most in-demand players in the game (B. Smith, J. Manu) they've also been able to keep Crichton and reportedly Matt Lodge (a player who was worth $800,000).

Did they forward pay Crichton at Moore Park Golf?
