NRL Players and family members in hot water

Odds are they were a pack of bogan **** wits anyway. Still a massive beat up over nothing. Hopefully impacts their prep though.

WTF? They deserve to be egged because they may be bogans? Jesus Christ.

Le sigh...

Odds on they weren't just sitting around and viciously victimised by a barrage of eggs.

I'd lay money down they would have been acting up, driving past, talking shit, being typical Townsvillains.

As if they're going to do anything but spin it their way in the media.

As I've said before, my car was egged somewhere near the Coolum Surf Club. The damage was over a grand to fix. If the cops said they found empty cartons, then say each egg trown cost $1000, then that's a potentially $24-30k repair bill not including potential loss in resale values. Paul Green needs to pull his head in, that's not a something to dismiss so lightly, especially for the victims. My car took me 6 years to save up for back then, I was PISSED, and makes me so angry when I hear about clowns messing with other peoples hard earned property.

It can't be washed off, it will not buff out, eggs permanently damage paint, so means you need to repaint:

Intentionally damaging someone's personal property is 100% worse than most of the shit (Pearce or Carney for example) that gets players suspended these days.

Mate you know they won't. This is the most spineless administration of any professional sport, anywhere.

If it was Blair, Pearce, or one of your other typical 'villains', it'd be all hands on deck at NRL HQ to see just how long they could suspend them for.

Have to agree with this. I know it seems juvenile and you can have a giggle about it these men are old enough to cop it sweet. It's no different to tagging the train for example. I'm sure that's a hefty fine/charge.

Also is it possible to be racist against bogans?

Look, I'm not saying the parties shouldn't feel aggrieved, and I expect they should be compensated for damages.

Calling for suspension or NRL action just sounds like petulance though. Would we expect our players stood down or any serious disciplinary measures for similar conduct?

Also, for the uninformed, everyone in the Ville is a bogan. No matter your ethnic or social origins. Fact. If the Queen of England moved there, she'd be a bogan hood rat in no time at all.

Guys. No one is remembering that we are in finals / big game rules time again. Limited suspensions, limited judiciary input, what input they have will be rubbish to get people playing, and we might as well not even bother with the rules that the refs are meant to work with. All in the name of entertainment.

NRL had anything to say yet? I'd expect them on the front foot, talking this down, and the integrity unit conducting an urgent investigation prior to any games. Right?

Greenburg was on the footy show last night saying all the right things and that the punishment would be left up to the Cowboys.Lol.

Read that Bob Katter had a presser to get the charges dropped. Egging is "a great Australian pastime".

Careful, Bobby.

There will be literal and metaphorical egg on his face after that.

Colourful independent MP Bob Katter feels charges should be dropped against a number of North Queensland NRL players after the egging of a number of cars.

Source: AAP

9 SEP 2016 - 5:26 PM UPDATED 37 MINS AGO

NRL star Jason Taumalolo and four other North Queensland players deserve nothing more than a kick in the backside for allegedly throwing eggs at cars in Townsville, according to federal independent MP Bob Katter.
So says the man who claims to have done the same thing to The Beatles when they toured Australia more than 50 years ago.
Five players, aged 18-25, have been charged with wilful damage and are due to face court next month over the late Wednesday night incident.
Katter said egging was a great Australian pastime and called for the charges to be dropped.
"In my younger days. I was a naughty boy. We threw eggs at The Beatles," he told reporters on Friday.
"I just hate young people being picked on all the time for being stupid and irresponsible. That's what young people are like.
"Of course, you should get a kick in the backside for it. Should you have done it? No, you shouldn't have.
"I just think the whole thing has been well and truly overdone.
"I ask people to show a bit of humanity and a bit of understanding. We were all young and stupid once upon a time."
The colourful and outspoken politician insisted he wasn't defending their behaviour, but believed most people had done something utterly stupid in their youth.
And for those who say they hadn't?
"I'll point out to you a person that is maladjusted and doesn't really fit into society, and also a person that is telling lies," he said.
Taumalolo is still set to play for the Cowboys in Saturday's NRL qualifying final against Melbourne, while his club investigate the alleged incident.

Drop Cowboy egging charges: MP Katter says | SBS News

I would love to see the charges overturned now and for those "victims" to go and egg everyone in the place. All the cowboys cars, the coaching staff, Bob Katter. Would just show the system up as such a farce if they got off. They then cannot be charged, obviously. There would be chaos in the streets actually. Imagine how many people would just go out and pelt eggs at anything and everything.

Lol turn it up.

TBF, I think he's referring to a spree of egg throwing. As in a bunch of peanuts got to a carpark and egg a pile of cars.

On the funny side, I was walking along street in the city one night, fairly inebriated, and got egged. Prick got me in the side of the head too.

Police have seized Steve Matai's phone in relation to the match-fixing allegations.

Steve Matai has denied this happened.

VETERAN Manly centre Steve Matai has furiously denied claims he had his mobile phone seized as police investigate allegations of match-fixing in the NRL.
Seven Network and Fairfax Media both reported on Friday that Matai’s phone had been taken by police.
On Friday afternoon the Sea Eagles released a statement that quoted Matai directly, and the former New Zealand representative expressed his anger at being named, categorically denying that he ever had his phone seized.
“My phone has never been out of my possession and I have never been interviewed by police,” Matai said.
“I am humiliated by the baseless rumour and this is really upsetting for my family.
“I can’t believe my name has been thrown out there like this.”

If this is shonky reporting then I feel for Matai, mud sticks.
