I think thats fair enough. If he is telling the truth and has nothing to hide i dont see the problem. You would actually think he would be keen to get it out there to show he didnt do anything wrong.

they are claiming the police won't allow them to give the footage to the NRL ...
on the other hand, the NRL have reportedly said that if they are not provided the footage by 5pm Monday, then they'll make a decision on whether to stand him down based entirely on the police charge sheet and the allegations from the police ...

Without that footage i dont see what other choice the NRL have but to go with the charge sheet.

I'm not so sure they should, but at the same time, i can see the logic behind it. The NRL will just want all the facts i guess. Video footage could easily clear Scott or condemn him. I think the footage should just be made available so he can get on with his career if he has done nothing wrong.

maybe they shouldn't ... but i'm sure there are ways to get a hold of such footage if companies really needed to view it ... I doubt it is classified top secret info ...
maybe this is one for @Jason Simmons to clarify for the class :)
personally i don't buy Scotts story ... cops may be heavy handed at times, but they are not stupid ... to taser an innocent person who was doing nothing but sitting under a tree, while their body camera's were running, only to then charge said person and hand the footage over to his lawyers is incredibly stupid to say the least

I wouldn't be ****ing around if I were the NRL. They want players to take the threat of the stand down policy seriously, so if they begin throwing around the wet lettuce leaf so early in its existence because they're "unsure" about something, which is going to happen often when it involves accusations like this one mind you, it will just turn into another toothless tiger that amounts to nothing with Jack Da Bell End being its one and only tentpole example.
They just need to give themselves and their policy their own benefit of the doubt and just put Scott on ice until this shit is dealt with in court. At the very least they can come out the other end regardless of result saying "Look, the policy is working. The player may have missed out on such and such game time, but given he put himself in that position in the first place, we did the only thing we could do under the circumstances which is follow our own protocol with no exceptions."

No it isn’t. It’s because of privacy legislation, because that BWC footage, like most police documents, contains an awful lot of personal and private information. It’s the same reason police have switched to encrypted radio transmissions

Which guy was that? Because I have read every Coronial report in Australia that relate to death by policing operation and I do not remember one that said that any person at all has died because they were tasered.
Some people who have been tasered have died, yes. But never once has a Coroner found that the Taser is what actually killed said person.

Unless they are a party to some court proceeding where that footage is to be used, then they don’t have any ‘automatic right’ to it. The NRL is not much more than a private company at the end of the day.
But like anyone else, there are Freedom of Information ( or Right to Information as they are called in Queensland) processes, they can go through in order to obtain a copy.
As to their ability to compel Scott to hand it over to them contractually, assuming it has been disclosed to him or his legal representatives in the first place, well that is a bit out of my area of speciality.
It is however a central tenet of our legal system though, that defendant’s can only very rarely be compelled to incriminate themselves, so if I were Scott, I’d be inclined to and be seeking advice on telling the NRL to get stuffed, on that point. Particularly if the BWC footage isn’t particularly favourable to him...
